Prediction method for lowess,loess,lokerns,lpepa,ksmooth
Hi Every Body,
I don't know why some regression functions have no related prediction function. For example lowess, loess, lokerns, lpridge, lpepa, and ksmooth.
What could help? Is there any global or wrapper function so that can help?
Regards,

lokern package
Dear Martin,
I have been playing a lot with the glkerns() function in the "lokern"
package for "automatic" smoothing of time-series data. This kernel
smoothing approach of Gasser and Mueller seems to perform quite well for
estimating the function and its derivatives (first and second derivatives).
In fact, this is one of the best methods based on my simulation studies for

need help with smooth.spline
Dear R listers,
When using smooth.spline to interpolate data, results are generally
good. However, some cases produce totally unreasonable results.
The data are values of pressure, temperature, and salinity from a
probe that is lowered into the ocean, and the objective is to
interpolate temperature and salinity to specified pressures. While
smooth.spline provides excellent values at the

Where's MVA?
Hi All:
Package TSERIES is stated to depend on MVA. However, there is no MVA package to be found under the list of package sources.
Best wishes,

I do not achieve to install some packages
I can't load the packages locfit, lokern and quantreg.
When I try to load the 3 packages the R program says that the pakages are not properly installed. He says to see the note in ?library.
I think that the error is because there is no built field in the 3 packages.
What can I do to make the packages run.
My OS is Windows XP.
Thank you

Optimization problem
Hello,
I'm facing a problem of optimization, I've already solved but I'm trying to
find other answers to this problem to improve the solution.
Well, to make it short: I have to set/install a number of devices in a
building, and I have to give service to a number of "customers", or better
say, to give a good quality of the signal. The more devices I place, the

dpill in KernSmooth package
Hi,
just a quick question does dpill computes the bandwidth or
half-bandwidth? The help says bandwidth, but in the literature there is
often confusion between the bandwidth and half-bandwidth.
thanks,
Giacomo

Problem in loading all packages all at once
Hi All
Please see the Rprofile file which i have modified as follows and after
that when I start R then I see that R says to me "TRUE" for all the
packages implying that all loaded at once.
But when i try to use commands as simple as help("lm"), it doesnt work nor
any of the menu "Packages" is not working.
Although the regression using lm ( Y ~ X ) is working
