NFS
I've finally managed to run Dovecot without errors in two computers with maildir and indexes stored in NFS. I added a page to wiki about this: http://wiki.dovecot.org/NFS Suggestions how to keep attribute cache enabled but to allow Dovecot to specifically request not to use a cached value (when it's important) would be welcome. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text

Is it possible to use quorum for CTDB to prevent split-brain and removing lockfile in the cluster file system
Hello list, We know that CTDB uses lockfile in the cluster file system to prevent split-brain. It is a really good design when all nodes in the cluster can mount the cluster file system (e.g. GPFS/GFS/GlusterFS) and CTDB can work happily in this assumption. However, when split-brain happens, the disconnected private network violates this assumption usually. For example, we have four nodes (A, B,

-all-static problems when linking apps which require -lpthread and -lc
Hello all, I used to use fully statically linked PHP, which I build into RPM using own-written spec-file. I need to do this as there are a lot of boxes with old linuxes (RedHat 6.2, 7, 9) which I can't upgrade to CentOS3/4 right now for a several reasons I don't want to explain here. When I've been using CentOS 4.0 and 4.1 - there were no big problems to link PHP as static executable

Need a cross-platform lockfile algorithm
Dear Experts, I'm hoping that your experience with SMB and CIFS means that you're familiar with cross-platform file locking. I need a lowest-common-denominator whole-file locking method that will work on as many combinations of client and server systems as possible; in particular it needs to run on - Linux client talking to NFS server. - Linux client talking to Samba server. - Linux

overnight clients causing lockfiles to be converted to root-owned messages on debian lenny
Greetings all, After running for more than a year without issue on debian lenny while it was in the testing- we're now experiencing problems under Lenny/Stable. Dovecot now converts some sort of lockfile into messages, and they're owned by root. The result is a mess; clients can't read their mailboxes with the root-owned files, and when the file is changed to be owned by them, many

"LockFile not implemented in server" messages on a Samba share
I'm trying to run a Visual FoxPro 6 application that writes to a Samba share. It crashes with "LockFile not implemented in server" and "UnlockFile not implemented in server" messages. I've attached a more complete log file to this message. On the Samba server, there aren't any special locking restrictions: for example, oplocks are allowed. Any ideas will be

RFE: Lockfile option for use in cronjobs
Hi, Looking for an easy way to prevent a repetitive rsync to be running multiple times, I was wondering if it could be useful to have an option like: --pidfile /some/path/rsync-mirror-org.pid So that rsync can be run directly from cron without requiring a wrapper script to do pidfile handling. This way rsync on startup could check the pid-file, see if another rsync is using this pid, and

I'm trying to get our legacy Microfocus Cobol database interface to work on a Linux box. I'm using WINE 20021007 built from source on Mandrake 8.2 (after removing default WINE install) I've fixed several problems in my config file, and imported some dll's that were missing. I can get to the login screen, but when I try to go any farther into the program I get this:

rsync big file
Hi, I have a cron job to rsync one directory from one server to another every 5 minutes. There are some really big files. So it happens when the second instance of rsync tries to copy the same file when the first instance is not done yet. It drives my CPU crazy on the source server. Is there a way to avoid this problem? Thanks,

Files getting excluded.. don't understand why?
I am trying to use rsync along with find to quickly copy changes to mirrors for some web sites. The basic idea is: 1 look for files newer than X >> export-file 2 rsync --include-from=export-file remote-server:/remote-path Simple enough. Unfortunately, I can't get this to work. Step 1 works well enough. However, when I use rsync it appears that rsync is excluding the files I added

[PATCH 0/3] RFC: appliance flavours
Hi, this is a prototype of something I've around for some time. Basically it is about adding new appliances in addition to the main one currently used and kept up-to-date automatically: this way it is possible to create new appliances with extra packages, to be used in specific contexts (like virt-rescue, with more network/recovery tools) without filling the main appliance. It's still
