Help with nouveau driver
For some reason it seems to fail somewhere in either nouveau_display_create or nouveau_display_init. Kernel 3.16 is nearly 2 years old though, and countless changes and fixes have gone into the nouveau kernel driver since then. Does this still happen with a recent kernel? You can try a livecd from https://nouveau.pmoreau.org/ which has all the very latest nouveau-related software. On Wed, Jul 6,

Help with nouveau driver
Thanks for the quick help! Indeed a kernel update resolved the issue, there one problem left though: I get an error: Xorg.0.log: Couldn't load sub module "fb". I can't find out what package this module is part of. Maybe you know? I already purged and reinstalled xserver-xorg and xserver-xorg-core with no effect. Help with nouveau driver
Ok, nevermind the problem was ofcourse some idiot, who specified a wrong path for said fb module. (obviously me) Startx works now, my gnome crashes with “Oh no! Something has gone wrong.”, but I guess this has nothing to do with nouveau so you can take this case as solved! Installing the new kernel solved all issues, but I really don’t know, why Debian ships such an old kernel… Von: Ilia

Xen and EVMS/Raid5 - Null pointer dereference
Hi, A problem with EVMS and Xen: I have patched a 2.6 kernel with the evms patches and then with the Xen patched, compiled and installed it. (kernel is 2.6.11.9 - which is what this server has been running for the past few months w/o the evms patches) At first everything seems to work just fine, I am able to use evms to create a new "volume", in this case it is based on MD/RAID-5 but

nouveau problem
When I attach an external monitor to my new Dell Precision I always get this and the monitor refuses to recognize video input. If I persist it reaches a point where the machine will boot but won't bring up a login prompt. I have to ssh to get in. And worst of all, it persisted after I remove the external monitor and am forced to re-install CentOS (7.6.1810). Aug 02 14:19:42

But when I want to add a new computer to the domain, windows asks for a password (this is normal) and as ever we tried to login with root and the password. But unfortunately , now it says: can't find user. I check with phpldapadmin and I see the user root in the
