Playing a recorded mp3 file like a livestream

I know Icecast over 10 years very well. My problem is this and I am
trying to describe it very short:
If my Icecast stream/mount is offline, a recorded MP3 file should be
played via the Icecast mount. The mount is configured as follows:

<max-listener-duration>36000</max-listener-duration>

Yes, running as root.
The load was in the 'teens as I remember, I looked @ that too.
One CPU was like 15% and the other 11%, something like that.
2.2.19ext3 #2 SMP, 200nhz ppros, 128mb ram.
Yeah, I know it's an old boxen, but it has been very good to me so far.
What system should I be looking at to get this to work ?

Yes, everything else has always worked great.
I'm lisrening to EpiphanyRadio sream via xmms right now. *8^)
I've tried the commercial OSS stuffs long ago, haven't had need of them.
Oh, my soundcard is a SB AWE 64 Gold, maybe I should get a diff. card?
But really, I think I'll build a new boxen next year...

yes, your system is too slow, and can not keep up with the sound card
input. are you running darkice as root? what is the system load when you
run darkice or liveice?

Sounds like a sound driver issue. Might want to try the SMP version of OSS
(www.opensound.com).
Do other sound apps work OK?

<p>Hi all,
I understand, what for a livestreamer can I take ? any references ?
A network question:
If I decrease the MTU (on hme0 interface is 1500) maybe it can be a solution
for my problem with broken streams?

kicking sources
Hi,
I've just seen a new thread asking about kicking clients off the server
and wondered, if there is a feature to kick sources off the server as well.
This would be very useful if the server is used by multiple djs on
a radio-station with a timetable. So when a dj forgets to stop his
livestream
the next dj could just kick the source instead of killing and restarting
the whole
server. (Because that would kill everything if the server is running
multiple sources).

Best version of Icecast? / Icecast as a service? / Videostreaming?
...sion of Icecast is the best and newest. Officially it is
2.4.4 at icecast.org. But is there a mod version with more features?
2. Who can run Icecast as a Windows service? My 2.4.3 version does not
support this. Older versions had this option during installation.
3. Can Icecast stream also video livestream? Where can I find more about it?
Kind regards.

AW: Ices 2.0 - make error
I see that
libxml1-1.8.17
and
libxml-2.5.10
are installed. is this perhaps the problem?
But so what it looks like i also can forget it trying to install ices2 for live streaming 'cause OpenBSD makes problems. argl, i think i can give up livestreaming with OpenBSD.

icecast2 per-mount overall listening statistics
Hi there!
I don't know, if there have already been such a question, so that it
is...
I have icecast2 and 7 livestreams on it (by some reasons 6 darkices'
mp3 and 1 ices2's ogg). By the given order I need to summarize the
time each mount is listened for (for example, /mount1 is being
listened by 3 listeners for 3 hours, than by 2 listeners for 1 hour and then by 1
listener for 2 hours. The summarized time,...

Cool Mic (Android source client for Icecast 2.x) update & Kickstarter
...ike to share a Kickstarter page with you that will (with your
help) fund publishing an open source, live-audio Icecast source client
for Android called "Cool Mic".
Please visit the page and watch the video for an idea of what we're
going for with this. Our primary focus is to support livestreaming
musicians and artists of all kinds but it can also be used as a general
purpose source client. It supports any Icecast 2.x server using Ogg
Vorbis (Opus with successful funding) and uses the device's live
microphone (or external mic/line-in) as input. We have many features

mountpoints /low and /high
now if i am doing a livemix i connect as a third source to the
icecast-server, start my livemix-stream to a third mountpoint (e.g.
/livemix) and then i go to the icecast-server's admin menu ("Move
MountPoints") and move the clients from /low and /high to /livestream.
Now my question
I dont know a possibility to re-encode my livestream to the 2 different
bitrates - is there a possibility doing that?
The best way would be something like to learn ices not only to play
playlists, but also listen for an incoming stream that it will, if it comes
in, send to the di...
