Hello all: While I'm recovering from gall bladder surgery, I thought I'd do something useful (since sitting up is about the only comfortable position I can find)... like create a HOWTO Samba (-2.0.7-21ssl) on RH7 (w/ xinetd-2.1.8.9pre14). I have already sent off the request to the HOWTO coordinator at linuxdoc.org (has anyone noticed that the listed email address

Whats all this Linux business anyway?
Alright lads, I'm Rick Masters and I know very little about networks, but for some mad reason I have been given the job of setting up a Linux File Server on an NT network. How the dickens does that work? Anyway I need as much help as you can be bothered to give me. And there is a free pizza in it for the guy who helps me get it working :-) You are all super and great fun (I'm sure).

use of queueing disciplines in netfilter queues
http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Adv-Routing-HOWTO.html 9.5 Ingress policer qdisc contains: FIXME: instead of dropping, can we also assign it to a real queue? Has anyone done this? What support is there or alternatively, what''s missing? I''d like to use netfilter to queue packets and then connect that to things like TBF. For instance, suppose we want to process the incoming

Creating RPMs for Packages
My company is trying to manage R installations across a number large SMP machines. We're thinking out the best way to manage the packages installs and updates. They would be happy if we could work out RPM's for package installations (traceable, easily facilitated with existing sw management tools). I don't know a lot and RPMs beyond how to use them, but it seems plausible to write R

Samba And and NetApp Filer
I need some help. I can map the NetApp filer, but when I do a 'ls' in the directory I get errors. Saying that the file or directory does not exist and I know the directories and files do, you can see them when you map the NetApp with NT. If you know the name of the directory you can change into it. I can also map NT with samba just fine with no problems. The NetApp is running a CIFS server

Quake II - a modal problem?
I am running FC2 on a Dell 600SC, latest wine version. FYI:Quake II will run on machines with only 4 MB video cards and no OpenGL. It runs fine under Windoze. Under Wine it runs the "launching demo" well but then I have no keyboard or mouse control. I must force the power off to regain control. On Windoze one would hit the escape key at this point and a menu screen appears with

joining to a Domain with a tdbsam backend (smb.conf, testparm and log included)
I'm about to give up. It's been months now that I've been playing around with Samba 3.0. I've downloaded their documentation. Tried to follow it as much as possible, but I'm getting no where with adding machine accounts to a Domain, real fast. I've asked this question a couple of times at the Samba Mailing list, but have gotten no reply(probably my fault, not enough info).

Documentation
I just installed Red Hat v. 6.2 and would like to configure SAMBA. I was wondering if you could point me to some good documentation sites that can lead me step by step through setup and configuration of SAMBA. I'll be experimenting with it in the meantime but your help will be extremely helpfull. Thank you, Jerry Lawson MCSE, MCP +Internet
