New to Samba
Hi All, For many years I have had an OS/2 box peer to peer Netbois over TCP/IP connecting to either stand alone WIN98 or Dual boot with OS/2. Now I've moved the laptops over to Linux. I installed Linspire which is supposed to support Samba. Being new to Samba I have no idea what to to put in the .conf file - on Linspire there's 5 of these files. correct driver for X
I have and new motherboard and trying to get X going. it starts at 800x600 and vesa driver... I have tried via (I get not driver found) I have tried S3 I have tried savage None of these work. ser --> sip.conf --->extensions.conf, variable context
Hi If I have ser sending calls to asterisk, is there a way to get a different block called in sip.conf for each call (based on some variable, NOT username, From:), if not and they all hit one block which has contect=abc, then when that context is called/matched in extensions.conf, how can I have diff features for various groups of users. Christmas installation
Hi, I'm busy installing games on my son's new PC he's getting for Christmas. Caesar III installed and plays fine. StartCraft, which I thought I had installed at some earlier time, installs and starts, but then immediately gives me the message: Error initializing standard.snp. how 2 download WINE thru windows (no linux modem yet)
This is pesky; cant get on net yet with brandy new ubuntu, as cannot install modem and no clear directions in ubuntu 10.04 need wine: cannot find how to get: all net pages assume youve got modem up and running ie advising just use "downloader" or "package source"....what about no modem yet in linux? (looking here thru windows)... impossible Need to download wine for Ubuntu

Wine based "Windows desktop"
Hi, I would like set up a Linux desktop icon and menu item that will launch a wine based "Windows desktop". Ideally the "Windows desktop" should look excactlly like a *default* windows 2K/XP desktop. Is this possible ? Has anybody already done so ? Is that already docemented somewhere ? I think this would allow more users to try out wine using the familar windows gui
