Setting up Rails server on non-standard environment
...I can find open (this is on a "virtual private server" context),
but I''m not sure what the best way to go is. I haven''t tried to
convince the hosting provider to install mod_fcgi, or know if they
would even do it.
So I''m thinking I could possibly install lighthttp and get that
running, and setup the subdomain to direct requests to the correct
port for the lighthttp server, but I''m not sure if this is the best
or only way to do things, or if there''s another way to set up Apache
to serve the app.

Frustrated with RoR environment splintering
Why isnt the RoR community focusing on robust and scalable mod_perl style of
Apache environment, rather then splintering all over the place with
lighthttp, mongrel, WEBrick, SCGI, fcgi, etc???
Its frustrating as someone who is trying to migrate to RoR.
Its very unlikely I would ever get a contract to work on any webserver
except Apache, so it would seem logicaly to focus all our efforts to make
Apache the ''production environment of recor...

simulating provider in a module
Hi,
What is the best way for you to simulate a provider behavior in
modules ? For exemple if you have an webserver module and want to have
a apache2, lighthttpd prividers. How would you do so the call to the
modules functions stay like:
webserver::addvhost { ... }
and not
webserver::apache2::addvhost
Any best practices you can share ? I know that conditional include
would not work so... :)

Segmentation fault in Mongrel when run with --debug
I am having a problem with mongrel just stopping inside a
periodically_call_remote function so I ran mongrel with debug enabled
Mongrel seg faults after a few minutes
The mongrel filelog shows 5 files open when this happens. Same log files
that are open all the time.

more selinux problems ...
Hi,
how do I allow lighttpd access to a directory like this:
dr-xrwxr-x. lighttpd example unconfined_u:object_r:samba_share_t:s0 files_articles
I tried to create and install a selinux module, and it didn?t work.
The non-working module can not be removed, either:
semodule -r lighttpd-files_articles.pp

Install problems: R-o-R on Debian with mod_ruby
Hello,
I have tried to setup Ruby-on-rails on my debian Linux machine and can
not get it to run. Maybe someone can help.
The following was installed already:
- apache2 2.0.54 (and PHP5)
- Postgresql 8.1
Now, having the ''unstable'' branch in my /etc/apt/sources.list I did:
apt-get install libapache2-mod-ruby
and Apache reports a "mod_ruby/1.2.4 Ruby/1.8.4"

PROPOSAL: The list needs to fork (desperately).
I''d like to propsoe that the RubyOnRails mailing list forks into three
lists.
PROBLEM:
* The list is getting swamped with traffic, making it hard to use and
even harder to follow.
* Many, many messages get lost, with no reply.
* Due to the overwhelming traffic, it''s hard for beginners to get the
help that they need, since their messages get lost in the shuffle, and
