problems with libwine.so.1
Dear list, I try to get wine to work under Ubuntu Hoary but failed. The installation seems to be ok, but if I try to run wine it gives me the following error-message: error while loading shared libraries: libwine.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I've installed the following over synaptic (ubuntu universe): wine, winesetuptk, wine-utils and libwine After googeling it seems to me that wine should contain the libwine.so.1 file and it should be in the /usr/lib directory. libwine 20041019 needed
Hello, I am deinstalling wine and reinstalling at the 20041019 level. I'm running the 2.6.11.7 kernel with the debian distribution. In Aptitude I need to reinstall wine, winetools and libwine. I can find the 20041019 version for everything except libwine. I think libwine must be known by a different name in the rest of the *nix world. I am downloading the RH9 RPM from http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wine and then using alien to make a .deb from the rpm. I need to do the same for...

libwine-alsa, etc. still relevant?
This came up before when debian upgrade wanted to remove these because of their being the previous version. Now all the version numbers are consistant. Deborphan lists them as orphans--no longer used! So ... are all these provided in the "main" wine library and these packages actually orphans? If so, why are they still around? If not, what is going on? Packages are from the

With 32bit etch debian, following an yesterday: #aptitude update (and upgrade) Daniel: As you migth remember, I got the error "failure of status 127" as on last June 10 (on that occasion following apt-get update and upgrade) At that time the remedy was: #apt-get remove libwine followed by #apt-get install libwine Now I prefer aptitude or dselect, so that yesterday #aptiture update (and upgrade), by which much of wine was modified (I did not take notice of) I got the same error 127, and applications did not launch. The remedy was: #aptiture remove libwine answering: D...

wine can not handle running a simple SDL program that calls
...me. It was talking about "new" glibc versions, but they all date from 2006. They also seemed to only apply to people compiling from source. I am using Debian Testing. I am using the wine version from the Debian repos. It is version 1.0-rc1-1. These are the wine packages I have installed: libwine libwine-alsa libwine-cms libwine-gl libwine-gphoto2 libwine-ldap libwine-print libwine-sane wine wine-bin wine-utils. My libc version is 2.7.10, and my kernel is 2.6.22-3-686. I am using mingw 4.2.1.dfsg-1. Here is the source for the simple program that I am trying to execute: Code: #include <...

libwine problem! - PLEASE HELP!!
Hi there, Over the last week I wanted to move from using Borland windows compiler to g++ with libwine. I used winemaker to make the makefile. Fixed some problems with compiling (2 or so). But now I acn't start the program... The output file is the amdprime.so and a amdprime symlink to the wine script. But if I try to run the symlink I get: ./AmdPrime: line 400: 29548 Segmentation fault...

can't find libntdll.so, but it's there
Wine (20001202-1mdk) invoked, message "can't find libntdll.so, no such file or directory." However there is such a file. Same wine.conf file used as with earlier version 20001026-4mdk. In both installations, wine never made a proper wine.conf file, file was blank and I had to write my own. I don't notice anything in the wine.conf file about where the libraries are.

Debian 3.0 and wine
Hello all! So I just realised that I need wine. I'm sitting on a Debian 3.0 box (which I'm in no way am competent enough to upgrade until a new release from Debian) and want to use wine. Is there any pre-compiled binaries out there or do I have to try to compile it myself, and if I do, do you think that you will be able to help me when I get stuck? Regards, Tomas ---anarki och k?rlek

compile problems with libwine
Hi, I try to port a Windows-console application to Linux. I did this: > winemaker --lower-uppercase --console -I/usr/include/wine -L/usr/include/wine . > ./configure > make Now all object files are created without warnings or errors, but while linking this error is printed out: [....] LD_LIBRARY_PATH=":$LD_LIBRARY_PATH" /usr/bin/winebuild -fPIC -o koordkonsole2.exe.spec.c

0.9.49's libwine "fix" broke my "system wide install" kludge...
Short version: I'd like help in configuring the registry as described in Section 3.2.4 to allow for system wide installs. 0.9.49's libwine 'fix' plugged a security hole I was happily using to achieve the same effective result. Thanks! Eric Long version: I'm using wine to run a copy of Quicken and want a single install of this program to be available to multiple users (i.e. via my wife's and my account). I don't...
