Samba winbind and nsswith.conf
I have a Solaris 10 box running samba. I have it joined to a windows
2003 domain. I can authenticate to the samba server. However I am not
getting group informaiton.
I have in nsswith.conf I have
passwd: files winbind
group: files winbind
winbindd is running
libnss_windbind.so and so.1 are in /usr/lib
when I run wbinfo -u or -g it returns users and groups from AD.
When I do a getent passwd I get the results for /etc/passwd and nothing
from AD.
When I auth to the samba server the permissions set based on groups do
not work.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Smbd 3.0.13 dies when smb.conf has winbind separator = \
...to work so my domain users can touch shares
on this Linux box without being prompted for credentials. I put these
in nsswitch.conf:
passwd: files winbind
group: files winbind
Then I did this:
cp /usr/src/samba-3.0.13/source/nsswitch/libnss_winbind.so /lib
ln --symbolic /lib/libnss_windbind.so /lib/libnss_winbind.so.2
Make libnss_windbind available to winbindd like this:
/sbin/ldconfig -v | grep winbind
mkdir /var/log/samba
I fire up the daemons like this:
/usr/local/samba/sbin/nmbd
/usr/local/samba/sbin/smbd
/usr/local/samba/sbin/winbindd
And ps -ax | grep smbd shows smbd is not...

Samba-4.3 on FreeBSD-10.3
I have created a Samab AD-DC on a FreeBSZD-10.3 host. The setup
checks out and I am able to join the domain from a Win7 workstation
and run the ADUC management console in RAST. I have opened the UNIX
Attributed properties tab for "Domain Admins" in the ADUC and set the
unix properties.
However, I get this notice "UNIX Attributes Unwilling To Perform" and

Winbind help on FreeBSD
It looks like the nss code for Linux and Free/NetBSD is a little
different. Has anyone successfully run Winbind with FreeBSD (I assume
it's FreeBSD 5.0)?! Unless I'm mistaking the FreeBSD 5.0 version of
nsswitch doesn't support third party libraries (ie libnss_windbind).
Any pointer would be appreciated since there is little on FreeBSD and
Winbind out there.
My basic issue is that that getent doesn't return what is expected.
Everything compiled fine. However in following the instructions for
Linux contained in the FAQ, I attempt to get a password list thoug...

libnss_winbind doesn't work as expected, where should I check ?
Hi,
I have setup Samba 3.0(as PDC) with LDAP as the
backend. The samba parts(login and share etc.) is now
working after some tweaks. The pam_winbind also work
as I can authenticate agains winbind.
However, the libnss_windbind doesn't work which I have
no clue where should I look into trouble.
getent passwd or
getent group
shows none of the samba entries I created. I tried to
turn on log to '2' and the only suspicious message I
can find in log.winbindd is the following(the RPC pipe
stuff) :

The FreeBSD manpage says this about nsswitch WRT compat:
compat support `+/-' in the ``passwd'' and ``group'' databases.
If this is present, it must be the only source for that entry.
Likewise there are no libnss_windbind.so files of nay description on
the FreeBSD system. The nearest to this I could find is:
find / -name \*libnss\*
/usr/local/lib/samba/libnss-info-samba4.so
I think that this is a configuration issue but I cannot tell where or
what I am to change to get this to work on FreeBSD. There is nothing
