Printer Problem: Canon LBP-1000 & Samba (2.2.[3a,4,5])
Dear Samba people I am experiencing a weird problem with the above printer: When I upload the printer driver to Samba to make it available to clients that connect to the printer, these clients start showing printing problems but only in some applications. OpenOffice gives the following error message when trying to print: _____________________________________ |OpenOffice.org 1.0

My R code is not efficient
Dear R users, I have two n*1 integer vectors, y1 and y2, where n is very very large. I'd like to compute elbp = 4^(y1) * 5^(y2) * sum_{i=0}^{max(y1, y2)} [{ (y1-i)! * (i)! * (y2-i)! }^(-1)]; that is, I need to compute "elbp" for each (y1, y2) pair. So I made R code like below, but I don't think it's efficient Would you plz tell me how to avoid this "for" loop blow?? ----...

Printing via smbprint to a WinPrinter
...e to print from a Linux Server to a printer connected to a Windows ME machine. I'm able to connect via smbclient, with smbclient //windowsme/printer -U '' -N and I receive the smb> prompt Now, when I try to print any file, nothing comes out from the printer. The printer is a Canon LBP-810 which, according to www.linuxprinting.org site, is a WinPrinter. My question is: is it possible to have that printer running in the configuration I mentioned or not? Can't print from applications in W2K to Samba (version 2.2.3a, Debian woody)
Dear all I am currently setting up a Samba server and am experiencing a bit of a problem with printing: I have a Canon LBP-1000 connected to the Samba server via the parallel port. Printing directly from the machine works fine. Printing to the printer directly attached to my W2K client works fine, too. When I try to print from the W2K client to the printer connected to the Samba server, however, I get the following err...

USB->Parallel cable compatibility
I have an installation where we're replacing a rather old Linux box with a new one that has no parallel ports. The old box has two parallel ports going to Okidata printers. The IOGEAR GUC1284B USB to Parallel Adapter cable looks like it might be a simple solution to this, but I would like to know that it works before getting a couple. Comments? Printer errors
Hello all, Got SAMBA running on a linux 2.0.32 box, and all is well. Looked over the docs and set up my printer with the (what I think) are correct entries. Basically, what the default smb.conf has. Testparms says it o.k.! And I can print (lpr) locally. Windows sees both printcap entries (inkjet and psjet), but any attempt to pring to them errors out. I then added the print command =

CentOS 6, CUPS and Canon printers problem
I was trying to get a new Canon laser printer LBP-7110CW to work with a CentOS 6 machine. It already has an older Canon multi-function laser MF-4720W which worked fine. Both printers are connected via wireless. The new printer works fine from a Windows machine. The web-based GUI can be accessed from the C6 machine without problem either. However,...

Moron v0.6.0b released
...a model to recognize the default categories, and source code to evaluate new images, collect new training sets (this can be done simply by putting images of different classes to different directories and running a few provided functions) and train new classifiers. The included Local Binary Pattern (LBP) feature extractors and RGB<->HSV conversion routines might be of aside interest. Due to its ability to visualize the predictions made per image region, Moron is a guaranteed hit in both parties and classrooms, if only given a juicy enough set of test images. Even layman (male) audience has...

Marginal write performance & pauses in outgoing transfers - Possible bug
Hello everybody, I have a FreeBSD 4.8-STABLE server running Samba 2.2.8a and a workstation running Windows 2000 SP4. Whereas FTP transfers between these boxes average 700 KB/s (10 mbps LAN) in both directions, Samba transfers are exhibiting this odd behavior: Windows 2000 --> Samba = 700 KB/s (perfect) Samba --> Windows 2000 = 100 KB/s (terrible, inconsistent, with LONG pauses) Trust me,

[PATCH] Btrfs: fix a deadlock on chunk mutex
An user reported that he has hit an annoying deadlock while playing with ceph based on btrfs. Current updating device tree requires space from METADATA chunk, so we -may- need to do a recursive chunk allocation when adding/updating dev extent, that is where the deadlock comes from. If we use SYSTEM metadata to update device tree, we can avoid the recursive stuff. Reported-by: Jim Schutt
