Wine - almost a laugh but really a cry
...gs have changed! Whereas previous wine version were at least able to run the game in 2D, this new crap doesn't run it at all, complaining that it doen't find any(!) usabel video mode. Man, this is a 7-year old DirectX game and you guys are still unable to handle it properly - your such a laugh! To me, your whole project looks just like a big waste of time. Get real - stop this nonsense and grab a life! -- Juergen Wieczorek Hamburg / Germany

[LLVMdev] Want something to laugh about?
...awsuit. Of course many people sued this brain-dead law. Luckily nothing really happens if you don't pay, therefore the rate of so called black viewers is up to 20%, e.g. in Berlin. I'm a black viewer since I spend my free time hacking on a project that uses llvm instead of watching tv. Now laugh and enjoy if you live in a country that does not have such problems (but maybe others ;-) ) -Jochen

In the press, once again
May be a little bit off topic, but this gave me hard laugh: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/09/24/sysadmin_file_tools/ Windows admins use a virtualized CentOS machine to copy files because their own tools are not able to handle copying a bigger amount of data. :) Cheers, Timo

A Tribute to my Great Grandmother (Off Topic)
...cticut on January the 12th quite unexpectedly because my great-grandmother Ethel, someone I was very close to, died that morning, at 93 years old. She was an incredible woman. I was asked to be one of the pallbearers. Her ultimate goal in life, and one she fulfilled every day, was to make people laugh. She truly enjoyed life, and everything about life. She never despaired or cried, and when her time came, she knew, and left this world smiling. My Bubby (Yiddish for Grandmother), my Dad's Aunt Bev, and my dad's Aunt Charlotte (Grandma Ethel's daughters) were with Grandma Ethel when...

Send in your favorite CentOS slogan today
Hi everyone, The CentOS project is looking for more slogans that may end up on promotional material (eg media, flyers, posters or stickers). We already collected a few funny, ironic, sarcastic or even distasteful ones. Feel free to visit our Slogans wiki page for a good laugh or rude offenses and add your own slogan by sending them to this thread. See: http://wiki.centos.org/Promo/Slogans And who knows, yours may end up somewhere ? If it gets selected, you win free CentOS updates for a whole month !! So get started ;) Disclaimer: Ideas contributed to this thread...

Absolute noob needs help getting and useing the right bits
...it. Sorry if this is silly, but I am interested in this OS, and I really want to give my son the opportunity to get involved in the "underside of computers", which if course is not as open on windows etc. as it is with this. Make fun of my lack of knowledge by all means (I can take it [Laughing] ) but please give us some absolute noob help - you can not insult my intelligence on this matter, no matter how hard you try. [Rolling Eyes] [Embarassed] [Laughing] [Laughing] [Laughing] [Laughing] Thanks in advance for your help. Dave.

Updates... What? already?
Just had a good laugh. I'm sitting here at my desk working with my laptop sitting off to the side; I've just loaded C6 this morning and as I understand it C6 _just_ finished syncing on the mirrors over the weekend. I look up from an email I'm composing to see the updates alert being displayed. I won't re...

How do I disable kerberos?
...be running while samba4 is. How do I do this? I seem to have missed this on the how-to and system requirements. I have commented out every entry in /etc/services that seems even remotely kerberosish. I still get errors on kinit and host (from the how-to). I have googled until my computers are laughing at me and have posted on every forum I can find. Help? Please? -jimc
