Wierd ZFS interaction with sudo?
I''ve just installed express b28 on my system. After installing, I decided to move /opt to a zfs pool home/opt. After installing Blastwave''s latest sudo, I did my usual edits of sudoers. When I attempted to execute sudo ls to test things I got this: rtfm:/opt/csw/etc:>sudo ls sudo: /opt/csw/etc/sudoers is owned by gid 1, should be 0 But /opt/csw/etc/sudoers permissions

Mount floppy on startup?
On bootup, it seems CentOS automatically mounts the floppy drive to /media/floppy. Is there a way to stop this from happening, short of removing the floppy drive from the system (as I don't use it)? upgrade problem
Currently we have RH7.3 with compiler gcc 2.96.x My mission, should I choose to accept it, involves moving our embedded application to CentOS 4.1 with gcc 3.x Problem is that about 1/2 million lines of code that gcc 2.96 accepts gives fatal fits to the gcc 3.x compiler from CentOS 4.1 I don't know how many fatal fits, as some disguise others etc. "Can't find register to

How to check for rootkit, troians etc in backed up files?
Hi, there is a remote (VPS) Centos 4.2 server which *may* have been compromised. Reinstalling everything from scratch isn't a problem, it may even be an occasion to improve a few things, the question is another. There are backups of necessary shell script, ASCII configuration files and more or less important email (maildir format, if it matters) including messages with binary attachments in

Chroot tool
Hi, Currently I'm working on building chroot environment for a several users. The needs of those users are different, so the binaries and their libraries are differents too. The building process tends to be so tedious. I'm using a odd script to automatize the copy of needed libraries, but it not works very fine. ?Is there some tool to automatize the chroot jails creation/management?

Something is writing a log
I can just be sittting, doing nothing, and I hear the sound of my hardrive head moving. Just every so often. Like some process is writing a log. I have looked in /var/log and do see occational updates to acpi and messages, but that does not account for all the clicks. Is there somewhere else to look for logs? I would really like to know what process has something to remember.....
