flags not synced correctly with dovecot sync (dsync)
I'm running dovecot 2.3.4.1 from https://repo.dovecot.org/ on Ubuntu
18.04 on three machines that I'll call server, laptop1 and laptop2.
Both laptop1 and laptop2 run dovecot sync against server to keep local
copies of my imap folders. Even when I initially had only two machines,
laptop1 and server, I occasionally noticed that flags were lost, usually
custom flags used by Gnus, but I couldn't reliably reproduce the
problem.

flags not synced correctly with dovecot sync (dsync)
I should add that these problems arise frequently in practice, even if
changes are only being made on a single machine, e.g. laptop1. Flag
changes on laptop1 propagate to server, but then are reverted on server
when laptop2 syncs with server, and then are reverted on laptop1 when it
syncs again with server. If I redo the flag changes on laptop1, the
process just repeats and they are removed again.
Suggestions for debugging are very welcome, as currently syncing is
much too unreliable for me to continue using it.

change UID+GID on target system?
...uid.
I copy files with rsync from laptop 1 to the USB.
( rsync -auvz --progress /home/oub/files /media/usb )
However:
On laptop 2, I am user oub (uid=1002) and in the sudo list.
Now when I connect the USB (jfs file system) its get automatically
mounted however as uid=1000 which is another user on Laptop2.
There is a patch for mount which allows to set the UID and
GID of the usb drive, but this patch is not standard.

So the only solution I see is to use chmod -R (and chgrp -R)
on the target system and then run rsync to copy from the USB
to Laptop2.
And later to the...

[Bridge] Interface or Linux crashes when put in bridge mode
...ng wlan0 to eth0 on each box. Note that this is now a layer-2 bridge and hence br0 has no IP address. I connect a laptop on each WLAN adapter:

[ Laptop ]-------------[ WLAN 1 ]-------------[ WLAN 2 ]-------------[ Laptop2 ]
[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
And I do the same ping as above, but from laptop1 to laptop2. Regrettably, this causes a kernel crash (appears to be a deadlock somewhere because no oops is output to the serial port). It is also interesting to n...

urgent - samba+ldap PDC
Hello members
I really have ran out of options here, and I don't know how to resolve this issue. I have a Samba LDAP primary domain controller. I have been using LAM - LDAP Account Manager to manage the accounts. The command line appears to be working correctly ie - getent passwd, getent group, id username, id computer, adding and removing accounts.
Problem: When I logon to the LAM page

little help over here
Hello all,
Just subscribed to the list, having a little trouble with samba as when i
try to vew the system from windows it says You have no permissions to access
this resource and i've tried everything i can.
Could someone send me some sample files that work.. like smb.conf,
smbpasswd, smbuser.. all the ones that are needed so i can see where i am
going wrong. Or suggest something to me.
