But according to /tmp/junkJ, $a is the windows file name, not
the spool file name. So does the control file in the
spool directory.
If I send a file to the Lanier from the command line,
the file name is always listed as the Document Name.

Print Server
Ok, here's my setup: I've had a samba file server going for about a year
now. It's Samba v2.05a on a RH6.0 sys. Currently we have a printer
server running on a Winblows NT box. This NT box has the following
printers: HP5si, (4) HP4000, and a few HP4s. All of those printers have
Jet Direct ports on them. What I want to do is, move all the printers
over to the Samba box and KILL the NT

How do I get the @#$$% job name to show instead of smbprn.yada.ya da?
...echo This is truncated $a >> /tmp/junkJ;\
/usr/local/bin/lpr -P%p -J"$a" -U%m %s;\
rm %s
Looking in /tmp/junkJ, the $a is the filename,
as it's supposed to be.
I'm running OpenBSD 3.2, LPRng 3.8.19. Clients are
all Win2k/SP2. The printer(s) are a mix of HP4s,
and a new Lanier 2138 (Ricoh 3800c in sheeps clothing).
I think something isn't being parsed/passed
correctly between Samba and LPRng.
Using the standard LPRng Print Command produces the
same results (lpr -P%p -r %s), so it almost seems
as though the -J%J job info parameter is being
ignored (when I add it to...

Tuning for a large environment
...that there are a
large number of TCP sockets in a "CLOSE_WAIT" state. There are also a large
number of UDP sockets open but they are only listening on the loopback
interface. Is this normal?
Thank you all very much for your help and I would appreciate any help or
comments.

HP Deskjet 6940 and 6988
Hello all,

server successfully? I currently using Samba versions 3.0.24 Ubuntu
Fiesty Fawn in my production environment. I also the issue occurs on my
laptop which is running Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 which uses Samba 3.0.26. The

Printer Rights Fail
Hello everyone,
I upgraded my Samba server on my RHL 7.2 box from 2.2.3a to 2.2.7. Almost
immediately afterwards, all of my admin users suddenly were unable to access
the printers that were being shared by Samba. Any idea of what is wrong and
how to fix it? The messages I'm getting are that I do not have enough
rights.
I am using a Windows 2000 Server PDC and a lot of Windows XP Pro, and

Win2K sp4 can't print
Hi,
I just installed 2 Win2K sp4 workstations on an otherwise working Samba 2.2.8a
network and 2 of the 3 printers are showing "Access denied". What's up with that?
The other computers that are working just fine are Win98, XP and Win2K NOT sp4.
Here is part of the global section:

sticky bit on directories created via net neighborhood
I've set "force directory mode = 1775" in smb.conf, but when
I make directories in a share through network neighborhood, I
end up with 0775, i.e. user has rwx, group rwx, others rx.
The sticky bit is not getting set.
What am I doing wrong?
thanks in advance,

How do I get the @#$$% job name to show instead of smbprn.xxxxxx. xxxxxx?
Still at it....
Clients: Win2k SP2
Server: OpenBSD 3.2
LPRng 3.8.20
Samba 2.7.pre1
Printer: Lanier 2138
Driver: Ricoh RPCS
Tried: disable spoolss yes/no (on separate samba servers)
If I print through Samba/LPRng, I get
the document name of smbprn.xxxxxx.xxxxxx
displayed in the 2138's log.
If I print directly to LPRng through a
Standard TCP/IP port, I get the correct

Asterisk 1.6, IMAP Voicemail and externnotify
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

I have Asterisk sitting between the PSTN and a legacy PBX. Asterisk is
doing some IVR work prior to forwarding calls to the PBX and it also
acts as the voice mail server for the PBX, with Asterisk configured for
IMAP storage.
When a call comes in and the caller leaves a voice mail, the VoiceMail
application calls the program configured in

A way to run extenrnotify when IMAP events take place...
I have IMAP voicemail working with Exchange 2003 using a single username
and password for multiple mailboxes.
Right now, I am setting up asterisk to use voicemail with my Cisco Call

I cannot get my externnotify script to run when any changes have been
made to the VoiceMail...
