Multiple Beginner Questions
Hi Everyone -- First and foremost, I'd like to thank the creators of Icecast and all the ancillary tools. Most excellent work! I'm running a somewhat unique radio station called LamRim Radio which hosts Tibetan Buddhist teachings and recently hosted a semi-real-time teaching by His Holiness the Dalai Lama of Tibet... http://www.lamrim.com/ Icecast has been the enabling software to make this all possible and for this I (and many others) are grateful. I've been runni...

ices & reencoding
hi, when using ices (0.1.0) with options -R -b <bitrate> (lame 3.89beta), and a playlist with a mix of mpeg version 1, 2, 2.5 files, it seems that only version 1 files work fine, the others have problems with the sample rate. is this normal behaviour of ices/lame or do i get something wrong? thanks, uno --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project

Clustering on the YP
>But wasn't there some plan already in the standard-docs to use >Servername + "cluster password" for listing a cluster of servers? >Well okay, but maybe this requires an addition to icecast2 :-) > that was the original plan, and may still be implemented to enable relay servers from multiple locations to cluster together, but as you mention, this requires updates to

Strangeness
Icecast has been working flawlessly for months serving hundreds of users a day... But something strange is now going on... Do you know what it could be? I start the icecast as usual: /usr/sbin/icecast -c /etc/icecast/icecast.conf Then the ices "player" /usr/local/icecast/bin/ices -c /usr/local/icecast/conf/ices.conf But now, the player is now dying constantly with Invalid

Looking for a client to feed Icecast
Todd -- I was actually able to get this working with the WinAmp plugin, Oddsock (www.oddsock.org) last night. The configuration is a little twitchy, but worked well for my purpose. Email me directly if you need help. Roy At 09:17 PM 03/02/02 -0500, you wrote: >Would like to use a Windows client with a line-in processor to >feed an icecast server. ices compile problems (again...)
Thanks Brendan and Moritz! Reminds me a bit of LOTR "Speak Friend and Enter..." All better now... Archive Dump Failure / Error Codes?
All -- The solution turned out to be a file privileges problem. The solution seemed to be pointing the dump file to /tmp (ex: dump 123 /tmp/test.mp3). Graceful Icecast Source Switching?
All -- Anyone know what the "best practice" technique is for gracefully switching sources? Here's situation: Server A is streaming recorded MP3 files to a bunch of listeners (ICES). Server B is a live feed (via oddcast) When I want to transition the Server A listeners to the Server B stream, I do the following: (1) Kill the ICES process on Server A (2) Start a RELAY PULL on

ices, name of current song
Dear Bredan -- I'm seeing them in the debug logs, but they're not making their way into the stream. OTOH, they are making their way to the directories (ie, shoutcast): http://yp.shoutcast.com/directory/?s=lamrim&st=gs&l=25 Any thoughts? Thanks for the great work! Icecast Shoutcast Darwin Oddcast Questions
Dear Mr. 'Sock -- First let me say "Major Thanks!!!" for your work in developing the Oddcast plugin. I'm putting it to great use and will send you an article that I recently published regarding my usage of the software... I have a couple of questions I'm wondering if you can help me with... (1) Is there a version (any version) of a streaming source feed for Linux that

ices compile problems (again...)
Okay, I did this right months ago, but somehow lost the recipe. I have libxml and libxml2 installed: [root@atisha ices-0.2.2]# ls /usr/local/lib libshout.a libxml2.a libxml.a pkgconfig libshout.la libxml2.la libxml.la xml2Conf.sh libshout.so libxml2.so libxml.so xmlConf.sh libshout.so.1 libxml2.so.2 libxml.so.1

Remote Telecasts?
All -- Does anyone have experience doing remote live broadcasts over Icecast? My thought is to use a Dell laptop running Windows (yeah, I know ;-), digitize locally to 16khz, and pump the output to a remote Linux box. Has anyone done something like this before? Thoughts? Issues? Thanks, Roy --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ icecast project homepage:
