OT: whats your opinion of ODDSOCK streamTranscoder?
This is all happening on a box with: Win 2k SP3 512K RAM 1.2 GHZ Celeron The PC has noother load...all its doing is downsampling an MP3 stream to lower bitrates. I'm using the LAME_ENC.DLL with streamTranscoder. There is no version number tagged on the lame_enc.dll, but the file is dates July 2002. When I refer to "skipped and popped and dropped" I am referring to your listening experience. Maybe skipped is a bad description. Your chosen mp3 player will experience a f...

OT: whats your opinion of ODDSOCK streamTranscoder?
OK guys. Thanks so for taking the time to talk to me even though this was off topic. And Oddsock, especially thanks for insisting that no one had this problem. It got me thinking......your transcoder is at the mercy of several external components..one of them being lame_enc.dll So..I went and found several versions of the lame_enc.dll, and experimented. I'm not sure how I should compile lame on windows so I just found several applications that ship with the binary version of lame_enc.dll I found the one that comes with the latest Zlurp! to work the best. It is d...

New version vorb_enc.dll
Hi all, I've just posted another version of vorb_enc.dll (w/source code) at http://xtractor.sourceforge.net/vorbdll-20000626.zip It will still work as a drop-in replacement for bladeenc.dll (just rename the files that your ripper creates from MP3 to OGG), but will also accept info for the ogg comment header in the vorb struct in the format union of the BE_CONFIG struct. I'll be

Oddsock oddity
...to be sure I am understanding all I need to know. And it will connect and the eye candy will go let to right and the server will show that there is a connection, but the thing never sends data and a media player like WinAMP will will tell me that there is no ICY service available. I have loaded lame_enc.dll in the WinAMP plugin folder and the Oddsock DSP tells me 0 kbyes Total of 0 8 sent What else have I missed? GCC 2.95.2(Win32/Mingw32) build
I'd like to write a DLL wrapper (BladeEnc/lame_enc style) for libvorbis. I pulled down the CVS tree today, and with very slight changes (missing typedefs for int64_t, int16_t, etc...) got it to build using gcc 2.95.2 in Win95. Unfortunately, the encoder_example segfaults. I get the same results from Cygwin as well. On a linux box with egcs...

OT: whats your opinion of ODDSOCK streamTranscoder?
What is everyones opinion and expierience with using ODDSOCK streamTranscoder to downsample mp3 streams? I tried it on Windows 2000 and then compared it against shoutCAST DSP plugin. It sucked. It skipped and popped and cut off the first 1/2 second of each track and dropped. It sucked, while shoutCast DSP was flawless. What attracted to me to streamTranscoder was you don't have to run an MP3

slightly offtopic, uninstalling edcast
Hi all, I have edcast on my computer, but I didn't check the box to install the mp3 encoder, and it is not installing correctly after it has been deleted from the location it is installed in. It doesn't show up in the control panel list, so can't do anything about it there. How do I completely remove edcast from my machine and start over? -------------- next part -------------- An

Vorbis as a benchmark
Seeing the discussion on using vorbis as a benchmark has prompted me to post a few results that I have. Times are as reported by oggenc. I used track 8 on Stereolab's Dots and Loops album. It's 334 seconds long. Tests on windows machines used the windows oggenc binary from www.vorbis.com Tests on unix machines used oggenc compiled on that machine. Compaq PIII - WinNT (1000 MHz) - 91
