MKL Acceleration encouraging; need adjust package builds?
Dear R-devel: The Cluster administrators at KU got enthusiastic about testing R-3.2.2 with Intel MKL when I asked for some BLAS integration. Below I forward a performance report, which is encouraging, and thought you would like to know the numbers. Appears to my untrained eye there are some extraordinary speedups on Cholesky decomposition, de...

using reshape to do ANOVA mixed models
Hi, I just started with R and I found that there are many options to rearrange the data to do mixed models. I want to use the reshape function. I have 2 between subject variables and one within. I was able to change the data structure but still - the result of the aov functions are calculating everything as a within subject. the table looks like this: SerialNo breed treatment distance_1

diagnostic information in glm. How about N of missing observations?
...results will typically include N and the number dropped because of missings. Without going back to R and fiddling about to find the total number of rows in the dataframe, there is no way to tell. Alpha releases from Copenhagen not mirrored?
Looking at http://cran.r-project.org/src/base-prerelease shows that the latest alpha tarball is dated April 1. That page reveals its source via the various ?D=A etc sorting links, and looking at Peter's page at www.biostat.ku.dk, I do indeed see April 2 and 3 releases in Denmark. dotplot & lattice problems: y axis values and bg color output in jpg
I have a linux system with Fedora Core 2 and R-2.0. I was comparing plots made with plot() and dotplot() and discovered a problem. Although the dots are positioned correctly, the numerical labels in the dotplot y axis are not correct. I put copies here: http://lark.cc.ku.edu/~pauljohn/R/plotTrouble1.jpg That is the "correct" one from plot, with the higest value on y showing at 18. http://lark.cc.ku.edu/~pauljohn/R/plotTrouble2.jpg That is the dotplot one. The picture is basically the same, except the numbers on the y axis only go up to 8. But the do...

...o verify because they pertain to specific hardware or operating system versions. If you have information to contribute, please do so. If you happen to know how to fix a problem please send patches to the bug repository, too. New bugs are reported either through the web interface at r-bugs.biostat.ku.dk or via email to r-bugs@biostat.ku.dk. The bug.report() function can be used to automate parts of the procedure on many systems. Followups on older bugs can be done by including the string "(PR#999)" in the Subject of an email (change 999 to the actual reference number, of course!). ===...

configure statement for R-devel with updated zlib in user account
I'm aware R-devel no longer includes zlib. This works find on up-to-date Linux systems. On the older Centos 6 cluster at KU, they have zlib tool old for R-devel. The R-devel configure fails thus: checking if zlib version >= 1.2.5... no checking whether zlib support suffices... configure: error: zlib library and headers are required In other software, I've seen this kind of thing, so I installed zlib 1.2.8 into...
