can't login to remote cvs server
...the first time, installed and minimally configured a cvs server on a CentOS 5 box. I followed a "how to" to do the initial configuration, so I'm sure I haven't done anything wrond (according to the "how to", anyway). But, I keep getting this error: $ CVSROOT=:pserver:ksandhu at kermit:/var/cvs/asterisk $ cvs login Logging in to :pserver:ksandhu at kermit:2401/var/cvs/asterisk CVS password: /var/cvs/asterisk: no such repository /var/cvs/asterisk exists, and it's been initialized like so: sudo cvs -d /var/cvs asterisk init I also created "cvsuser" and &q...

How to get status of notebook lid?
Hello, I am using CentOS 5.1 on a toshiba tecra 8000 notebook. That works great so far. The only thing I could not realize is to shutdown the notebook if closing the lid. Therefor I need the current status (open or close) of the lid, but I don't know how. Is there any way to get this status, maybe under /proc/ or by some command? [root at beutelsend ~]# uname -a Linux beutelsend

Upgrade of dovecot broke imap (CentOS 4.5)
I just did a yum update and one of the packages updated was dovecot. I've been using this for imap/pop3 for quite a while. Now, however, I get an error when trying to login under any account. It gives "bad user or password" errors for every user. The user can ssh in just fine and run mutt or pine. But trying to get in with evolution, or even squirrelmail, just gives me an

command to echo size of images
All, Is there a command line program in centos to echo back the size of an image (gif, jpg, png)? I did see that file image.jpg sometimes works but reports the wrong image size. I see xview image.jpg reports the correct size but I dont want to see the image just get its size. Thanks for any suggestions.
