Volume group "VolGroup00" not found
Hi,
I am compiling Xen from source on FC9. On booting the
Xen dom0 kernel it gives the following error:
Volume group "VolGroup00" not found
and ultimately the error that switchroot: mount failed: No such file or
directory
So my question is that why it fails to detect logical volumes?
Thanks,
Abdul Qadeer

xm usb-add syntax
Hi all,
Do any of you know what the syntax would be is I wanted to add the
first device listed using lsusb on my dom0 to my domU?
lsusb;
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 064f:0bd8 Some-Systems AB ABC/DE
xm usb-add;
Usage: xm usb-add <domain> <[host:bus.addr] [host:vendor_id:product_id]>
Unsure what combo works, other then what doesn''t work.

streaming server on a virtual machine.
I need to installa a streaming server for live videos and for video on demand.
My choice is red5.
Do you think I can use a xen virtual machine to run a streaming service?
Or it is better not to virtualize?
Sorry for my bad english.

centos 5.3, no shared physical network device in virt manager
Hi all,
I just came across this issue of not seeing any network devices when
trying to set up a domU using virt manager in Centos 5.3.
I''ve read about this same exact issue with 5.1 but the patches or
workarounds don''t apply or work for me.
Any one come across this using Centos/RHEL 5.3x64 bit?

samba3 and 2003 server integration
Hi,
Is it possible to have a Windows 2003 server as the PDC and
corresponding Exchange server while having domain members
being Samba 3?
I read in the how to that it can be done with a 2000 PDC but
not sure about 2003 PDC.
This way, I reached a compermise with my client as to having
2003 mail server/PDC while using open source stuff for the
high speed file serving production end.

exchange server and amba 3 integration
Hi,
The decision has been made to use Exchange 2K server despite
my efforts in suggesting Cyrus Imap with Sendmail.
Has any one used or have suggestions on using an Exchange 2K
Mail server with Samba 3 as the "only" PDC?
My ?s;
1) Is the 2K Exchange Server integration as simple as having
a 2K machine joining a Samba PDC?
2) I use smbpasswd as a backend as I am migrating from

net groupmap woes
Hi all,
I've scoured the net looking for a solution but to no avail.
net groupmap list returns
Domain Admins (S-############........) -> Domain Admins
I would rather map Domain Admins to my root unix group.
net groupmap modify ntgroup="Domain Admins" unixgroupreturns type=d
returns an error;
Could not update group database.
If I delete via;

Dedicated Nvidia PCI passthrough for Linux PVM
Hi,
Not trying to be obnoxious on this list.
I thought perhaps phrasing the subject line specific will catch some
ones eye (hopefully).
Would like some help on 2 issues.
1 - I have PCI pass through working for an Nvidia card which is my
2nd graphics adapter and I wish to dedicate it to a particular domU.
I had to mod my initrd as follows;
mkinitrd -f --preload=pciback

profile migration - resend
Hi,
I am almost ready to switch over from 2.2.7 to 3 but found
that a user profile created in 2.2 doesn't work in 3-
ie;
during login to a Samba 3 server, an error occurs and profile
modifications are not permitted or recognized.
This may seem trivial but I have 50 users, each with complex
desktop setups which help them with there daily tasks of CG
post production (so some of you know

PDC from 2 to 3, SID headaches
Hello,
I'm doing a migration of a PDC from Samba 2.2.8a on Mandrake Linux 9.0 to
Samba 3.0.6 on Debian Woody (stable), both on the same machine, different
partitions, they do not run simultaneously. And I really need help. :-/
I could not find a detailed guide, so after having a look at the migration
chapter of the official howto, I adapted my smb.conf keeping the same host

Dfs - Load Balancing
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with using the Dfs
functionality within Samba.
I've been searching for any performance information and or documentation
regarding Dfs in particular load balancing i.e.
1) How does it load balance? Is it some sort of round robin?
2) Is there a limit to the number of servers that can used in the load
balance?
3) How many requests per

OSX causing multiple CLOSE_WAIT's
Lately it never fails when I attach a Mac running OSX 10.5 that I get
runaway pid's. I tracked them down so far to multiple close_wait's:
# /usr/sbin/lsof | grep pbg5mac
smbd 24876 root 6u IPv4 80015755 TCP
yoda.wrenkasky.com:netbios-ssn->pbg5mac.wrenkasky.com:49381 (CLOSE_WAIT)
They can grow to over 100 if I don't catch it or nobody can log on anymore ;-)

lvm metadata recovery
Hi all,
I am looking for a way to recover my primary VolGroup00 that has my

Here is my scenario;
1 - I add an external drive to my VolGroup00 which is sdc1.
2 - I make that external drive a snapshot of my /
3 - After I remove that new volume of sdc1 using lvremove, all os fine.
4 - When I turn off the sdc1 drive, I loose my VolGroup00.
If by chance, the sdc1 breaks in such a

on_xend_start: booting, shutting down and vm startup order
Hi all,
Long time no speak.
Well, since I''ve chosen to stick with the XML Xen configs; config.sxp,
how do I;
1) Have a domain truly shutdown upon xend shutting down (not save
state but halt -p).
2) Have certain VMs start before others.
Startup is (on-xend_start start)
But thats all I could really muster at this point.
Thanks in advance,
