Problem with VFS audit and recycle
Is there anyone running Samba 3.0.X on Solaris 8 that has VFS working? I
am dying to know if this is a problem with my setup or if there is
something else going on. If you do have it working, please let me know
which module. Thanks.

R - Understanding output of the Knoxtest (Package (surveillance))
The function knox of the "Surveillance" package performs Knox test for
space-time interaction. The output is supposed to give the numbers of
events that occur in a specific distance in space and time define by the
function arguments. This function also perform a Monte Carlo permutation
test, which give the...

Domain authentication failing after a period of time
...me message is returned. Running a smbclient -L against
the system yields "session setup failed: NT_STATUS_NO_LOGON_SERVERS".
I haven't tried failing back to 3.0.2a yet, but I will if that will help
in any diagnoses.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone may be able to give.

Question about AD user/ACL mapping
...but could find no way in the documentation to do a username
mapping (equivalent to what is being done for logins) for the ACLs. Is
it there and I just didn't see it, or does it not exist?
Let me know if any more information about my install/config is required
- thanks!

Win2k -> Samba 2.2.2 for IRIX
Hello,
I've been searching through the Samba archives attempting to
find a resolution to intermittent Win2k -> Samba 2.2.2 for
IRIX share failures. It seems that there have been
numerous failures similar to mine reported with various
versions of Samba and various OS's, but I've been unable to
find a workable resolution.

printing issues - lprng
Hi,
I am running samba and lprng for 4 hp laserjets. Sometimes a
samba print job goes to the wrong printer. Normally everything works just
fine. Shown below is the lprng acct log file enries for the concerned print
job. Please notice that the print job was supposed to go to hp4050-mail,
but ended up in hp8100. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

[SUMMARY] Re: New installation (samba passwords)
I had just sent this whine out when I discovered the ENCRYPTION.txt file
in the docs directory. Thanks to Bill Knox (no relation that I know of)
for confirming what I had begun to suspect when I finally RTFM.
My samba installation is now working like a champ.
I'm now wondering about an enhancement to smbpasswd that will allow
UNIX-like password expiration and forced changes. And of course, now we
need sam...

Problem with VFS audit and recycle (fwd)
...area
Access to the other shares remains unaffected. This is currently happening
with ANY module that I have used, not just audit. I would be happy to
perform any stack trace that is required - however, smbd does not appear
to be panicking, so I am unsure exactly how to proceed with that.

Memory leak in 2.0.7?
...00-5000 jobs a day, the vast majority of which are initiated via
samba connections, so smbd is constantly forking off processes. Is this,
as it seems to me, likely a memory leak?
I'd be happy to provide any additional details if anyone thinks that
would help. Is this a known issue?

Samba disappearing from WINS
...servers in another location (two different subnets) over one weekend.
I saw nothing about this on a search of the samba lists that was less
than a year and a half or so old (with regards to versions of 1.9.17).
Is this something anyone else has seen? Is there a workaround of any
sort?

Patch for "last" providing incorrect information on Solaris 8
...hes merely pass along the username in the utmpx record for a logout.
Is there any reason why this would be a problem with other OSes? If not,
maybe this could be rolled into the port. If so, diddling with configure
would be the next step. Any ideas? The diffs are against 3.0p1, by the
way.

Printer shares question
Hi,
I checked the archives, but couldn't find this question:
I have two printers set up on my RedHat Linux 6.1 box, called lp0 and lp1 (original, huh?). Anyway, I want both of these printers to be visible
and browsable on the network. I have the following relevant lines in my smb.conf file:
printcap name = /etc/printcap
load printers = yes

Does RSpec work nicely with UUID primary keys?
I have my application happily generating UUID primary keys using the
uuidtools gem.
But the auto-generated specifications created by "script/generate
rspec_scaffold...", etc, assume that one is using a sequential integer
primary key.
For those who have hit this same issue, is it just a matter of rewriting
the auto-generated specifications to take this into account, or does one
have to
