Future libao refinements
Just so people know what I'm working on (between physics assignments), here's a quick list of what's currently in the pipeline: * I received an IRIX patch which I am very excited about. I'll be submitting that shortly. * A month ago another user sent me a very small patch that improved ALSA performance on his machine. I don't understand what it does exactly, and would

State of Vorbis, 20000409
Hello folks, An incredible amount of work got done in the past week and a half. And I missed the arbitrary, meaningless launch deadline. Not much new there... In the past week, developers contributed plugins for Winamp (thanks Jack and Michael), and kmpg (thanks Martin). Sonique added Vorbis support (thanks Andrew), although that won't appear in the 1.5 version just released; expect to see it in the next release. The XMMS plugin is complete pending the fix of one outstanding (and highly annoying bug) tripped by SMP machines. Thanks to Michael...

This is fine for audio but what about video and handling various framing formats? I'm guessing it handles RIFF waveforms but what about RIFF audio/video interleaves (AVI)? One thing I think...

vorbisfile updates, and a couple of questions
...a result, return -1 from this too. When I get around to it, I'll convert the winamp plugin over to use normal windows functions instead of stdio, mostly as an example of how to use the new interface. If anyone has any questions before I get to this, please DO ask. Martin - I also applied the kmpg patch you sent to Monty, but I had to change some things to match the modified vorbisfile interface - please check that it works and send me another patch if it's broken. Additionally, I added appropriate c++ incantations to the header files, so that you can use vorbisfile from c++ (thanks to...

Mainline nonportability
Hi folks, I'd like to remind people with write access on the CVS mainline not to put any tools/libs/patches into the main build that are not portable... I'm getting not-very-pretty flames from NetBSD folks because libao fails to *configure* under NetBSD (let alone build), thus breaking building the build for the entire CVS mainline. Specifically: >checking size of int...

Vorbis newbie questions
Greetings: I'm writing an article for the O'Reilly Network, and the focus is on streaming audio with Linux. I would like to include material concerning Vorbis, but I need some information: 1) What's up with www.vorbis.com and www.icecast.org ? Can anyone say when they'll be back on-line ? 2) Where should I go to get the latest Vorbis sources ? 3) What players,
