Desperate for a decent icecast client for Ubuntu 12.04
Hi , I tried IDJC last night , but could not figure how to just stream the
line in.
It seems to be a great program but overcomplicated for someone who just
want to send his mic output

Wifi connections
Hello all,
I'm just querying if anyone's attempted to stream off icecast over wireless
onto devices such as photos/mp3 players, As these devices are finally coming
onto the market with wifi then I'm sure they will play an important part in
any distribution for University Radio stations such as the one I'm part of
running.

elegant way of re-encoding?
hi,
I have a single stream going to my icecast server, encoded in hi-quality
ogg. goal is to serve hi- and low quality ogg and mp3 streams,
re-encoded from the single hi-quality ogg stream.
encoding all from e.g. oddcast simultaniously is not an option.
it would be easier if source-streams would be static and always named
the same .. unfortunately they are not. if so, I could define simple

one server getting the stream and delivering to the same.
So if icecast serves a stream, on stream-start streamTranscoder
re-encodes the stream and delivers it to the same server:port, how to
avoid a loop of re-encoding & re-delivering the same stream over and
over again?
thanx and regards,
kloschi

on-disconnect -> streamtranscoderv3 (linux server)
...reencoded on this server.
Maybe its totally easy, but I see no posibility so far, any hints?
2. streamtranscoder doesn't want to re-encode in ogg quality. it just
tries to connect but reconnects regularly. how to determine whats going
wrong?
see the config and log below!

...ast .. hehe, meshed icecasting :)
see http://freifunk.net for free community networks. for more on
streaming in that networks ask at wlanware@freifunk.net (actually google
for the freifunk mailinglists mailman ;) ), as the people who
experimented with icecast on wrt are reading those lists.
best,
kloschi
ps/ just used icecast for streaming from the World Summit on Free
Information Infrastructures in Dharamsala/India until an hour ago :)

...e, you could have a look into the jack patchbay to
see where you line-in / mic is connected. in the idjc gui you have at
the bottem two buttons which sometimes need pressing (I never figured
the definitive logic with that buttons :) )
you can also look into butt:

Mplayer & Cache fill
Hi,
I just wondered, why mplayer is not able to use its cache properly, when
listening to my icecast streams.
Cache size set to 320 KiB
Cache fill: 0.00% (0 bytes)
Dead key input on file descriptor 0
Cache fill: 0.00% (0 bytes)
Detected file format: Audio only
Selected audio codec: MPEG 1.0/2.0/2.5 layers I, II, III [mpg123]

merge/mix or replace two audio streams
Hi,
I'm trying to find a way to implement the following:
I have 1 media source (IceS or MPD) and 1 Icecast stream (say, LAN radio).
Once in a while I'd like this stream to be interrupted by short announcements (PA system).
Input for these announcements can be from another source (IceS, MPD, Asterisk call). Anyway, to make things simple: I'd have dir1 with ogg music files for

Forcing a sspecific stream type
Is it possible to force Icecast to stream in a specific stream type,
such as OGG, regardless of the source or input? For example, if a
streaming client connects to an Icecast server with an MP3 format
stream, can Icecast be forced to send it out as OGG or AAC or anything
else? Or does Icecast simply pass the stream through unconverted?

Hardware-based Icecast source client
Hi all,
I'm in the midst of creating a turnkey Icecast source client embedded in
a plug computer, using Ices2.
I've hacked together some scripts to automate the starting and stopping
of a live stream (launched by pressing buttons on the device). It's dead
easy once the network/server is configured - you just plug it in, push a
button and you're live.
It accepts any Debian

What's best practice for serving multiple formats from a remote icecast server?
We are running an icecast2 server in conjunction with our LPFM radio
station and need a little advice.
We have been serving a single 128k ogg stream from a remote server and
would like to make additional formats available (e.g. mp3, lower
bandwidth, etc.)
I would think this has been done a few thousand times and there would be
a "best practice" but I can't find it.

both ssl and non-ssl stream on the same socket
Hi.
I configured icecast to serve a stream over ssl and it plays nice in Chrome
and VLC. But on plain http I get *connection reset*. This stream's url is
the same for many years now, and it is included in many radio directories,
TuneIn and other apps. I can't change it or break it.
Is there a way to have a stream that servs the content over ssl and plain
http in the same time, depending
