Audit logging has been a bust. The failed attempt by the workstation to validate the password does not show up in the logs. Okay, so I've just put the sernet repo file in my yum.repos.d directory and a yum update will elevate my samba server to the latest version. Is there any pitfall that is out there that I can avoid before yum updating. Centos 5.3 samba3-3.0.34-37 & related packages openldap-2.3.43-3.el5 & related packages I still have my samba3-3.0.34 packages squirreled away so I can force downgrade

Looks like it was the samba install that caused the problem, but not which version. For reasons that I won't go into one of the DC's had lost the _msdcs.domain.com record and replication went to pot. Fixed the problem, we'll see how it goes. all currently 4.5.5 want to downgrade them all to 4.4.12. What's the best method? I'm thinking that if I stop before install, remove all the right ldb files, install and rejoin, that should do it for everything but the fsmo master. if I transfer all the roles to a new 4.4.12 dc, and do as above that will take care of that one and we will all be over to the new "old" version
