[PATCH] use reliable nfs mount options per default
Peter,
we found that nfs over udp will corrupt data under very extrem load,
there is no way to fix it due to the way how UDP works.
TCP will not have these problems.
I also wonder why the package size is only 1k. Everyone who wishes a
slow connection can pass the desired options via the kernel cmdline.
Everyone else prefers probably the fast mount.
The defaults should look more like that:

LPRng security
...id root?
Cheers
Olaf
PS: Excercise to the reader:-) Problems like this can be solved using
the SCM_CREDENTIALS stuff in 2.1.x kernels. Lpr can authenticate itself
with the local lpd via a unix socket, and have lpd forward the job to
the remote printer using a privileged port. Any takers?

Disappearing voicemail
Asterisk 1.2, Fedora Core 4:
When I leave a voicemail message, it writes the necessary files to the INBOX:
msg0000.gsm

msg0000.WAV
When I hang up, the files are erased. There is no indication of anything
untoward in the logs:

3. Problem description:
The syslog daemon by default used unix domain stream sockets for receiving
local log connections. By opening a large number of connections to
the log daemon, the user could make the system unresponsive.
Thanks go to Olaf Kirch (okir@monad.swb.de) for noting the vulnerability
and providing patches.

For each RPM for your particular architecture, run:
rpm -Uvh <filename>
where filename is the name of the RPM.

shutting down a mysql server renders cdr_mysql dead and asterisk nolonger makes or receives calls
At approximately 3:15pm I shut down the office MySQL server to change
out some hardware. Shortly after I received a call from one of two
customers whose asterisk servers output CDR data to that server. They
could not place or receive calls. Shortly after that I received a call
from the other customer. I'm below providing output from the message

Yet Another DIP Exploit?
I seem to have stumbled across another vulnerability in DIP. It
appears to allow any user to gain control of arbitrary devices in /dev.
For instance, I have successfully stolen keystrokes from a root login as
follows... (I could also dump characters to the root console)
$ whoami

$ cat < /dev/tty1 <------ root login here
