Installing a Package in Windows 2000
...a copy
of sh.exe in C:\bin, but it didn't fix the problem. I've also checked
to ensure that perl can be found. Actually, I've made an extensive
effort to solve the problem prior to sending this help request. So, any
assistance will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance.

(CAR) Scatterplot and problems (?) with abline
...e(h=0).
The problem is that the vertical (horz) line lies aprox 3% below (to the
left) of the 'zero' tick (or perhaps the zero tick lies above the zero
point). My intution is that there are multiple coordnet systems, but who
knows....
Any insights, suggestions etc, are welcome,
cheers,

too many open devices
I am getting "too many open devices" after 60 graphs. The archived
comments on this problem were too sketchy to be helpful. Any ideas?
Thanks Harold

Plotting a graph of many lines between groups of points...
I have a data file read into a data frame.
For example,
V1 V2 V3 V4
1 1 1 3 4
2 2 3 5 10
. . . . .
. . . . .
n V1[n] V2[n] V3[n] V4[n]
to n=many thousand
I want to plot a graph with many line segments, where v1[i]=x1, v2[i]=y1,
v3[i]=x2, v4[i]=y2 for i=1,n.
This seems relatively simple in theory but I've spent quite a bit of time
trying to make it happen with

R 1.7.0 startup error: .addMethodFrom...
Does anyone know what could be causing the following error message on
startup of R:
Error in .addMethodFrom(def,argName[1],class[1],fromClass) :
object "*tmp*" not found.
I'm using R 1.7.0 and Windows 2000.
This happened shortly after I installed 1.7.0. Once it occurs, R freezes.
>From then on R will always freeze with this error message.
I reinstalled 1.7.0 and it worked

Unauthorized 401
Hi,
I'm trying to register SIP phone with an asterisk serve, failing miserably. The server is sending "401 Unauthorized" responses to the registration attempts, but every time the phone is re-REGISTERing without authorization. I'd think this was a problem with the IP phone, except... the very same phone registers correctly (authenticated) with another asterisk box, same brand,

Sweave and multipage lattice
Dear R-Listeners,
as the Sweave faq says:
http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~leisch/Sweave/FAQ.html
creating several figures from one figure chunk does not work, and for
standard graphics, a workaround is given. Now I have a multipage trellis
plot with an a-priori unknown number of pages, and I don't see an elegant
way of dividing it up into multiple pdf-files.
I noted there is a "page"

Lattice levelplots and (partial) failure on some devices ----Long
Dear Community,

The following message was originally composed to seek help. However I
have 'hacked' a solution to the following behavior, but none the less
someone might find this interesting.

Sweave and Printing Lattice Figures From Loop
Community,
(Windows Xp , 1.7.1, too little memory)
This may have the flavor of an answer in search of a question, but I'll
pose this question: Is their a better way to do the following than what
I'll show below?
Problem:
In Sweave I have multiple figures from lattice, some of which have more
that one page. I can easily figure out the total number of figures I
have created, but its
