Sweave from Kile
Hello Does anybody have experience with Sweave run from Kile? I'm trying to make it run but have problems and don't know if the instructions are false or I do something wrong (my knowledge in bash and shell is too low to understand it)... I discovered recently Sweave and wanted to run it from my latex editor, Kile. I found and followed these ins...

Sweave and kile
Dear R-users, I want to give a try to Sweave and Latex but I am having some problems compiling my .Rnw files within Kile. I have followed the recommendations given in http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/e5/help/08/10/4277, but they do not seem to address my particular problem. I am using R 2.11.0 and Kile v 2.0.83 on an OpenSUSE11.2 installation (KDE 4.3 environment). According to the log (see below), Kile is unable t...

[C6] Some typical apps missing?
Hi everyone! :-) I just installed CentOS 6 on one of my desktop machines, and yum now tells me that some of my favorite apps are not present in any of the repositories I configured. To name a few: ktorrent, kile, krusader, pavucontrol, mplayerplug-in (or is it now gecko-mediaplayer), xine, xmms, and so on... All these apps were readily available for C5, and I used them happily. I am mostly surprised with the absence of *any* torrent client, bar the rtorrent (which doesn't have a man page and I have no...

latex writer in gnome?
Does anybody know the gnome program that you can write in latex with please? I'm not sure but I think its in the base repo. Its not winefish as it (winefish) doesn't compile the source text like the program that I'm looking for does. Hopefully thanks Sharon. -- 16:41:46 up 1 day, 16:56, 2 users, load average: 1.54, 1.45, 1.51 A taste of linux

SOLVED [was Re: latex writer in gnome?]
...nk its in the base repo. After a bit of experimentation I've found the program, its 'texmaker' from kbs-CentOS-Extra. Thanks everyone for your comments :) Sharon.

Auth problem when running a remote script over SSH
...in the "hosts allow" section of rsync.conf (and is in fact the correct IP address for computer.work, nothing wrong here). So I'm completely puzzled. The two ways of running the script are almost identical, yet only one works. Is there anything I can do about this? best, Jeroen -- Kile - an Integrated LaTeX Environment for KDE http://kile.sourceforge.net

postscript window size
...t resize when saved on Desktop. I could ignore 'width' and 'height', and the same result. Particular figures plot(rnorm()) are too rectangular, when I want to have them more like squares (stretched horizontally). Working on Ubuntu and need to paste 'figure.ps' into latex (Kile). Sweave produces gibberish instead of apostrophe in pdf
...rish (an 'a' with a hat on it, a capital A with a arc pointing upwards on it and a capital Y with two points on it). If I manually replace the apostrophes using the keyboard, I get a different looking apostrophe and the output is correct. I'm using Debian Linux (Lenny) with TexLive, Kile and R 2.6.1. This is a sample, the problem is in the lm output in the "Signif. codes" line: \documentclass[a4paper,10pt]{article} \title{Spam} \author{F. Bar} \begin{document} <<reg>>= n <- 50 x <- seq(1, n) a.true <- 3 b.true <- 1.5 y.true <- a.true + b.tru...

Problem with vignette compilation during R CMD check
...following problem. My package contains a single vignette written in optimbase.Rnw and that in stored in /inst/doc. optimbase.Rnw contains multiple \input{} statements that refer to .tex files stored in /inst/latex.ref/, e.g.: \input{../latex.ref/optimbase-package.tex} When I compile my Rnw file in Kile or when I run R CMD build against my source, everything works just fine. However, when I check the .tar.gz archive file, the following NOTE is returned to the shell * checking package vignettes in 'inst/doc' ... runaway smbd processes
Hi, I have a problem with the followig configuration. If anyone can shed some light on it I would be very grateful! Solaris 8 Samba 2.2.4 running via inetd NT 4.0 users access data and their own home directories stored on Unix from, mainly, NT PCs Not all, but some users end up with multiple smbd processes. Every now and again, one smbd process (normally belonging to one of about 3 users)

kate editor for R
Like kile for LaTeX, Linux/KDE's kate editor is an excellent editor for R, with easy code submission to a running R process. Syntax highlighting is good. I have not been able to figure out two things: - how to automatically reformat a line or region of text using good indentation rules (Emacs/ESS...

Sweave-LaTEX question
Hi: I am working on a publication and I have heard about LaTEX but I haven't actually tried to learn about it until today. I've found a few examples but I can't actually make them work properly. I have a couple of questions: Does LATEX have to be installed on your computer? How does the xtable package and Sweave work together? How can I make the code below create a table as pdf file?

Rnw debe utilizarse: Rscript -e "library(knitr); knit2pdf('eje.Rnw')" Se puede ulizar

Linux editor for R+LaTeX, but not Emacs
Using Tinn-R (in windows) is possible to run latex and R from the same editor, which was great. Now, I am using Ubuntu-linux, which has been better than WinXP. Currently, I am using Emacs (and then install ESS) for running LaTeX and R from a same editor-program (like i was doing with Tinn-R in windows). Nevertheless, and even though i have been using Emacs for almost 2 years, it is not as

Alternativas a pgfSewave
