tukey or Neuman-Keuls
hello, I need to groupe some means and I wonder how to do to get critical range table for tukey or for Neuman-Keuls I think it's possible to do that with the qtukey() function? thanks. _____________________________________________________________________________ [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

anova and post hoc multicomparison tests
Hello everyone, Like a lot of people, I have been looking for functions in R doing ANOVA (ok) and performing multicomparisons (like Student-Newman-Keuls, etc.). As I have been a little bit disappointed, I have bee looking through the net for such "open source" softwares. I found one in: http://www.statpages.org/miller/openstat/OS4.html I have begun to use it, and it seems good and simple to understand (as for a non-specialist like me). S...

Help with a more flexible funtion for multiple comparisio n of means
Jose - Before implementing SNK and Duncan's, you may want to be aware of some criticisms of these methods: >From Hsu (1996), "Newman-Keuls multiple range test is not a confident inequalities method and cannot be recommended." "Duncan's multiple range test is not a confident inequalities method and cannot be recommended either. In the words of Tukey (1991), Duncan's multiple range test was a 'distraction' in...

TukeyHSD test
Hello, I think that to apply the Neuman-Keuls test under R it's possible with the TukeyHSD function and I know that to do a Neuman-Keuls test I have to sort the means but I can't use the TukeyHSD function I don't understand how to do to apply this function to my data. In the R help they use the TukeyHSD function to a aov() do you...

Parametric tests
Hello, I am interested in parametric multi comparison tests such as Dunnett, Duncan, Tukey, Newman-Keuls, Bonferonni, Scheffe, and non-parametric tests such as Kruskal-Wallis, and Mann-Whitney U. Are there packages that include most of these tests in each category? Many packages exist for an individual test but their outputs vary in great detail (test statistics, p-values, etc.) formats. It is desi...

recommendation for post-hoc tests after anova
Greetings all, I've done some ANOVAs and have found significant effects across my groups, so now I have to do some post-hoc tests to ascertain which of the groups is driving the significant effect. Usually one would do something like a Newman-Keuls or Scheffe test to get at this but based on googling and browsing through the r-help archives R doesn't support these and they seem to be badly received by the R community generally (for reasons related to alpha not being properly controlled, if I understand correctly). I found the TukeyHSD f...

ANOVA "ex post" Analysis
...pens frequently). Is a function available that extracts multiple comparison of means from objects produced by "aov()" ? Sorry if the term is not correct, I translated from german word by word ("Multiple Mittelwertvergeiche"). What I mean are procedures like the Student-Newman-Keuls test or Scheffe test, that allow to test selected pairs of factor combinations after applying an ANOVA to a set of data. I'm somewhat surprised that this seems not to be a topic of discussion among R-users since great emphasis is put on these procedures in most (german) textbooks on applied...

...the S function 'varcomp' as described in W.N. Venables & B.D. Ripley's 'Modern Applied Statistics ...' for R; does something comparable exist for R, or is planned for future releases? More generally, are there libraries with post-anova test procedures, like Student-Newman-Keuls? Or do those of you who frequently use anova for testing experimental results the necessary tests "by hand"? I would be interested in information about such packages, as well as about literature recommendations if you think I should learn more about anova and R before asking silly questi...

...nd fixed/random factors, as described by Underwood (1997). There are two restrictions: (i) data must be balanced; (ii) fixed nested factors are not allowed. Homogeneity of variances is checked using Cochran's C test and "a posteriori" comparisons of means are done using Student-Newman-Keuls (SNK) procedure. Best, Maur?cio G. Camargo

multiple comparisons/tukey kramer

Multiple comparisons when interacction

Then I am trying to compare means of the different levels of TIL inside every YEAR using: mc.2 <- glht(lm.1, linfct = mcp(TIL*YEAR="Tukey")) summary(mc.2, test = univariate()) but it does not work. There is any way of doing this, like the SLICE option in

Tukey multiple comparisons
I am embarrassed to have to ask this but can anyone tell me of a Tukey multiple comparisons procedure available for R? I have looked through the search page, through the FAQ, and in the index of V&R (1999), and I still can't find such a thing. I see there is a ptukey function and a qtukey function but that is as far as I got. Do I need to roll my own? -- Douglas Bates
