Sound device has been blown away
...ongs, and then suddenly, the sound cut out. And at the same time, my
keyboard became unresponsive. I could close applications with my mouse,
but couldn't type anything in any application.
So I rebooted. And when I did, I got a "new hardware detected" old-
school interface. It said my Kenwood Audio device had been removed, and
I could either remove it's configuration, keep it, or do nothing. I
chose to keep it. Then the boot up continued.
When finally logged in again, I tried playing some music. No go. So I
checked the System Settings | Soundcard Detection utility, and guess

Ogg in my car
...y been mentioned on the list or I'll kind of look
stupid...
The Ogg Developers may already be aware of this, but I thought this would
be news for most of the people who subscribe to this list. I saw this on
NewsForge where they referenced an article from MP3Newswire.net The article
is about Kenwood announcing a digital music system for cars that supports
Ogg Vorbis. Read more about it here :

Dovecot unable to access the shadow file
I am installing Dovecot-2.1.13 on Slackware 13.37.0 for the first time to
replace ipop3d and I have overcome all of the roadblocks as they have
developed except this last one and I finally have to say ?uncle?.
The error messages that are showing up in the dovecot.log are as follows.
Jan 24 12:27:27 tux2 dovecot: auth: Error: passwd-file /etc/shadow:
open(/etc/shadow) failed: Permission denied

[Flac-users] BIG Problem!!! Help please!
...o Medias or Siroccos, but the end of the year I intend to
have a real audio system again and run my soundcard (TB Sant Cruz) thru it. If you have experience
playing both FLAC and OGG (at 10-level encoding) through hi-fi can you say what, if any sonic
differences there are? My plan is to have a good Kenwood 5.1 home theater reciever and BOSE 701
speakers. But until I get the system I can't make the tests myself so I'm asking other's opinions.
Thanks if you read this far.

Quadraphonics
Over the weekend I chanced by the house of a quadraphile friend of mine to
check it his SQ setup. For those interested, he has a fairly decent
Kenwood linear turntable with what I understand is a rather pricy
cartridge manufactured by some company whose name escapes me, hooked into
a Fosgate Tate II SQ decoder which is likewise hooked into two X10-D
buffers then finally into a Marantz receiver. The whole system sounds
absolutely wonderful on SQ...

Not sure how to do this in zfs
Hello all,
I''ve tried changing all kinds of attributes for the zfs''s, but I can''t
seem to find the right configuration.
So I''m trying to move some zfs''s under another, it looks like this:
/pool/joe_user move to /pool/homes/joe_user
I know I can do this with zfs rename, and everything is fine. The problem
I''m having is, when I mount

PhatNoise's PhatBox, Kenwood's Music Keg
These are MP3 players that you put in the trunk of your car and hook

PXE boot of linux-2.4.*
I used linux.0 from the pxe package of redhat linux 7.2.
It's successfully boot vmlinuz-2.2.19, but when I try to boot
vmlinuz-2.4.14, it reboots after Setup() call in linux.c
The phrase "Uncompressing linux" does not appear.
What I ought to do to successfully boot linux-2.4.14 kernel image?
Best regards,
Dmitry.
