[OT] preferred clients
I'm getting tired of Thunderbird telling me I have unread messages in
folders that haven't gotten new messages for months so I'm looking for a
new mail client. I know the problem lies with Thunderbird because
everything is fine via RoundCube and if it tell Thunderbird to rebuild
it's index it shows the folder correctly again. Except of course for a
subset of the messages in

IMAP folder watching plugin request
Hello Timo and list,
I'm pretty sure this has been asked before but would it be possible for
a generic folder watching plugin to be distributed with Dovecot? My
intention for this is to be able to integrate a spam filter into
dovecot. Filtering would be performed on delivery and spam put into a
spam folder and then if mail was moved into or out of the folder the
filter could be

Dovecot LDA Logging
I have Dovecot LDA logging fine right now but I really don't like having
my log files world writable because I have users with shell access.
Is there a way to have Dovecot LDA log to syslog or would it be possible
to write a mini-daemon that could log to syslog on behalf of Deliver or
something else altogether?

Occasional errors opening email folder in SquirrelMail
Every once in a while I get this [1] error when trying to open a mail
folder in SquirrelMail. I don't know enough about IMAP to tell if it is
a SquirrelMail or a Dovecot issue. I also get this [2] error message
every time I try to send an email. The email goes through but there is
no copy in the Sent folder. If there is some kind of logging I can
enable that would help with this please let

Using Dovecot SASL with postfix
I'm trying to use Dovecot SASL with postfix 2.3.3 and when trying to
send mail I get the debug output below. I don't know enough about whats
going on to know where the problem is but something clearly is not
right. I would send the configurations for postfix and dovecot except
they are clearly talking to each other so I kinda doubt its a
