Samba 3.0.3: Still cant change password after KB828741
I just downloaded and installed Samba 3.0.3 and it still doesn't fix the
problem caused by the windows update discussed in KB828741. Still
getting the message "You do not have permission to change your password"
on some boxes, or "The system cannot change your password because the
domain DOMAIN is not available" on others. Uninstalling the update
still works, however this is not an option for some, includi...

Status on fixes for MS04-11/MS04-12/KB828741 issues
I realise that a large number of sites have been bitten by the bad
interaction between this hotfix, and Samba.
I have finally managed to spend some time looking into this, and have
reproduced it in my test environment. There appears to be an issue with
the NTLMSSP layer used by windows clients to wrap password change
requests.
Fortunately, I have also shown that it is possible to construct a

password change, domain not available
Dear Herman,
We had the same problems over here.
The problem seems to be related to Windows Hotfix KB828741.
Removing the hotfix through the control panel solved it for us.

Samba 3.0.4 on RHEL3
There have been several issues fixes since the 3.0.2 release of Samba. One
of the most important issues is a problem with password changing after
applying the patch described in the Microsoft KB828741 article to Windows
clients.
I want to run Samba 3.0.4 on RHEL3. The version provided by RedHat is
samba-3.0.2-6.3E. I can't find any other RPMs or SRPMs for RHEL3. Any help
you can provide would be much appreciated.

Upgrade path from 3.0.0 -> 3.0.10

smb.conf at the end of this message.
I would like to upgrade to 3.0.10 for a numbers of reasons, one
being security and one being that password changes don't work
from workstation machines because of the Windows KB828741
patch. What I want to know, is if I should expect any
incompatibilities between versions or if my existing config
files will work with the new version? This is a mission
critical system, so I really don't want to upgrade unless
there are going to be very minimal issues.

You do not have permission to change your password
We recently migrated from WindowsNT to Samba 3.0.2a. After about two
months, we have started to notice a weird problem. As user's passwords
expire, they are prompted to change them. When they attempt to do so
from Windows, they get a message saying "You do not have permission to
change your password". However, the password IS changed. Both the
Samba and LDAP Linux passwords are

XP pro user can not change password in SMB PDC
...When user changes password, the XP gives such a
message: "you do not have permission to change your password."
I googled the solutions, I got some threads, from samba maillist,
which said this:
Just an update. After reading others posts, I uninstalled Microsoft
Cumulative Update MS04-012 (KB828741). Sure enough this fixed the
problem. Hope Samba folks can correct this in Samba 3.0.3 so we don't
have to uninstall this update on all computers.
But I think this problem should have solved by now, haven't it? What
shoud I do to solve this problems?

Samba 3.x and PCNetLink domain trusts
I am trying to establish a domain trust between a Samba 3.024 domain and
a PC Netlink 2.0 domain.
Currently, we are using PC Netlink as our primary Windows file server
and "NT4" domain controller. (Lets say that the domain is called LEGACY
and the domain controller LX1) Windows 2003 servers are unable to
join a PC Netlink domain (even with the SignOrSeal option disabled.)
