Picking an open channel (FXO port) for outbound calls
...nes. What is the best method of picking
an open line when someone tries to dial-out? i.e. if Zap/1 is in use how can
I instruct Asterisk to use Zap/2 and vice versa? I know complex methods of
making this happen, but I'm sure there is a very simple way to accomplish
this task.
Thanks.

to FXO ports (and most of the FXO ports are of the variety that do not
support caller ID). I was not able to find a definitive answer to this
question when using PRI for inbound calls.
I'm grateful for any assistance in answering this question.
Thanks.

Picking an open channel (FXO port) for outbo und calls
...to everyone for your quick responses to this question. I'm very
excited about the Asterisk project, and the growing community seems to be
very active these days. Hopefully when the time comes for our county's
transition to VoIP we may be able to go for an Asterisk-based solution.

Replacing Devices in a Storage Pool
Hi,
Assume that you have a 2-way mirror of small drives that you want to replace with another 2-way mirror of larger drives. What is the best way to do this?
If you use the zpool replace command, one at a time on each of the existing old drives, then you will end up wasting the additional space on the new drives. I have tried to access this space by creating a new pool and adding the unused

Mirrrors with Uneven Drives!?
I didn''t think this was possible, but apparently it is.
How does this work? How do you mirror data on a 3 disk set?

This works fine for me on my analog phones using a Digium FXS. I believe
that '.' will match any remaining part of the string. I don't believe it
matches like a regular expression would (any single character).

VoIP Termination w/ 402 or 712 area code?
...tely
convinced that no one offers these area codes (eastern Nebraska, western
Iowa), however considering the wide audience of this mailing list I thought
this would be a good place to ask.
I would prefer a provider that allows for Asterisk use, but I realize
beggars can't be choosers.

911 and lawsuits
Just curious if any of the Asterisk installers are doing anything special
to protect themselves from a possible lawsuit caused by 911 failure
during a Asterisk/computer crash?
I realize that any traditional PBX or even a phone line can fail but,
anything running on a computer is probably going to be less reliable
than most PBXs.

Extracting x-values from an ecdf
Dear R users,
Quick question on the use of ecdf for producing a cumulative
distribution function.
After having produced a cumulative distribution using ecdf, I would
like to extract the exact x-value for a given percentile. For example
I can ascertain the 1st and 3rd quartile using the summary function:
cawa.cdp <- ecdf(cawaocc$LEFF80)
plot(cawa.cdp, ylab="Fn(x)")

How to restart * thru phone "when convenient "
...to place the command you want to run into a file and
issue something like:
at -f /path/to/command.file now
This would run you command now, but I believe it should be run by atd and
hence your execution will continue. Alternatively you could add a delay
such as 'now + 1 minute'.

The 'ignorepat' directive is intended for zaptel devices such as Digium's
FXS products. Your SIP device doesn't even start sending digits until
you've finished dialing.

Merry Christmas, all Asterisk users!
It's the day before Christmas here in Sweden, actually the night before at this time...
We celebrate Xmas on the 24th, so I'm about to log off and switch my Asterisk into
"merry-christmas-mode" with the yet undocumented CLI command "frosty-mode on", a mode
where the PBX will connect all incoming extensions to the "ho-ho-ho" sound file and then randomly

Resetting Asterisk
Is there a was to reset asterisk by dialing? Eg *99 and have it execute the commands to stop now and restart?
Also eg *56 to reload?
The reason for the restart command is over the weekend it started acting weird, the voice got really choppy and aver i restarted asterisk it was fine. We are just in testing right now but it would be nice to know how to do this if it were to happen again and im
