two server and dbox
Dear users,
I have a question about the storage dbox. Is it possible to deliver e-mails
from two different lda?
I would have two independent servers working at the same time on nfs.
Is it possible since the e-mails name will be the same?
Thanks in advance

My postfix configuration is quite complex with a lot of special cases

and lightweight as possible (KISS).

the mail folder was accessed via IMAP.
The flags R, F and T are correctly read from the filename if no
index is present. I haven't tested the other flags.
I'm using dovecot's deliver, and it creates filenames such as

is, perfectly fine.

Using sork-passwd from Horde to change dovecot password
I'm using in my server dovecot and Horde to provide IMAP and Webmail
for virtual users. Their password are stored in a passwd file, since the
setup is quite simple and small. I'd like to use the Horde module
sork-passwd to allow changing of the passwords. Apparently, this can be
done for the case of passwd file by using an expect script, or simply
calling a program that receives the

Configuration problem for secure virtual server
Hello,
i want to configure a virtual mailsystem on an debian server with exim and dovecot.
Because it is running on a V-Server, i want to store everythink in a LUKS encrypted contrainer.
So i created a group crypt with the members Debian-exim (107), dovecot, (other users with encrypted content)
All mails should be stored in /mail in the mounted container.
Dovecot has this configuration:

What is the recommended way to move a message from one mailbox to another using CLI
What is the recommended way to move a message from one mailbox to another
using CLI - serverside commands ?
Since IMAP does not support transactional moves between mailboxes - The only
thing that comes to my mind is this operation:
1) extract message from mailbox A using "doveadm fetch"
2) inject message into mailbox B using "dovecot-lda"
3) expunge message from mailbox A

how to limit size of dovecot.log
I've done some searching and maybe I'm missing something... I have a
remote dovecot and postfix server running on debian 5. I then have a
local fetchmail server that retrieves email from the dovecot server via
pop3s every 5 minutes.
The problem is that the /var/log/dovecot.log file has grown to be over
1.1GiB over a period of less than 1 year.
Is there a way to limit the size of the

btrfs for mail_attachment_dir
Hello,
I don't find any indication, that no btrfs for then filesystem for the
path in "mail_attachment_dir" is to be used. but btrfs has a big problem
with hard links in the same directory.
Nuisance is the only deal with a different file system?

According to [0] (and the links in there), this problem has been long solved.

Backing up dovecot mailboxes
Does anyone have a working solution as to how I can use "doveadm
backup" to back up a virtual users mailbox to a removable USB device.
I keep receiving numerous errors and no files are backed up although
the directories are created.

dovecot may be, but the process is not trying to access as user
dovecot, but as Debian-exim (as shown in the log). And this happens
because of the mail_uid line in your config.

I've already read that, and as wrote previously, everything broke down.
dovecont -n wasn't able to convert the configuration file and dovecot
wasn't started properly.

Auto configure email clients from Dovecot?
Hi Friends,
I'm using on Debian Jessie, Dovecot 1:2.2.13-12~deb8u3.
I would like to know if is it possible to auto-configure the email
client, for example Thunderbird or K-9 mail.
Essentially I would like to know if is it possible to let dovecot
instruct the mail client about how to auto-configure the email client.
Actually my mail server parameters are not automatically taken from

Maildir and mail files question
If an incoming mail is saved in 2 mail locations via dovecot deliver,
and its wished that if deleted from box "a" should also be deleted from
box "b" ...
wil it be safe to delete based upon the W=xxxxx part of the file name ????
So far my tests indicate that It could be true ...
Thanks
