proper way to process dataframe by rows
...when apply iterates over the rows, it uses as.matrix() to convert the dataframe to a character representation of itself. Thus my database's carefully planned data types (that RODBC carefully preserved when returning query results) get completely lost as I process the data. I've taken to judiciously sprinkling as.numeric() and friends here and there, but this is just begging for bugs. In other words, what is the smart way to process a dataframe by rows? Or is there, by chance, a specific technique or practice that is available for RODBC results but not for dataframes in general? Than...

Asterisk 11 queue calls - emulate Dial(b) functionality
...ion to dump calls into the cleanup macro", I decided to investigate Asterisk 11 for the new Dial() b function and the new hangup handler CHANNEL variable. I have the hints working more or less correctly on direct calls to/from the phones, making use of the b and U functions in Dial() and some judicious use of GROUP channel variables and CHANNEL(hangup_handler_wipe). But, on my live system, sometimes the users receive calls from a queue, and I don't see any way with the queue calls to emulate the b functionality in Dial() to be able to set the agent extension's device state to RINGING...

NO. you can't bond two interfaces connected to different ISP's. best you can do is limited load balancing, and/or use source tagged routing via ip rules to change gateways. its a mess to g...

Packages not available in CentOS 7
HI, I would like to upgrade my customized CentOS 5.5 to CentOS 7. For this I took the latest stable CentOS 7 image and wanted to install the packages that are there in the existing customized version of CentOS 5.5. I could install some of the packages, but the following packages I couldn't install. 1. Rhpl 2.mod_perl 3. 3.notification-daemon 4. 4.vixie-cron 5.kudzu 6.redhat-lsb

Good news on WxWidgets 2.8.0
...t 80% of our current classes compiled. The remaining errors look easy enough that I could fix them, which is a good sign ;) 2.8.0 is meant to be out in a few weeks - I''m not planning to do anything real until then. My sense is that we will be able to support both 2.6 and 2.8 with some judicious ifdefs, without it getting too messy. I''m fairly keen to continue 2.6.3 support, since it''ll be a while before 2.8 builds start showing up in binary, eg in Linux distros. alex

Cluster analysis
Hi all, I have no idea if this question is to easy to be answered, but I?m starting with R. So, here we go. I have a large dataset with a lot of steps a judicial case. A sample is attached. I?d like to do a cluster analysis to try to understand with one is the most usual path followed by this legal cases. After that, I?d like to plot a cluster tree. In the attached sample, the column: - "id_processo" is the primary key of a legal case; - &qu...

[ScalarEvolution][SCEV] no-wrap flags dependent on order of getSCEV() calls
...for "too long" though -- if you simplified a loop in a way that SCEV can compute its trip count when it couldn't before (or it could compute a trip count before, but now it can compute a more precise trip count) then invalidating the cache can be an improvement. However, in this case judicious use of forgetLoop() (as opposed to re-constructing the whole of SCEV) will also do the job. -- Sanjoy >> I would be okay if you wanted to expose those tricks via a helper in >> SCEV that could be called independently of creating zero or sign >> extensions. Add use of dput() to the instructions at bottom of post?
It's often difficult to figure out what a problem data set looks like when someone pastes a mess of output from R into an e-mail. The dput command, used judiciously?I would hope no one would send a 1 M data set?can make life much easier. I wonder if it would be useful to add a hint in the instructions at the bottom of the posting page, where the list asks for self-contained reproducible code, to also hint at using dput() to supply sample data? I suspect...

Scatterplot of many variables against a single variable

Jim's conclusion is "debatable" by a judicious choice of seed. e.g. set.seed(79) suggests that making the request more readable will actually lower the number of useful answers. :-)) On Mon, Nov 27, 2017 at 11:42 AM, Jim Lemon <drjimlemon at gmail.com> wrote: > Hi Engin, > Sadly, your illustration was ambushed on the way to th...

cifs.upcall not respecting krb5ccname env var?
...ct to some issues mounting CIFS shares on a Windows box via Kerberos. We're using the command: /sbin/mount.cifs //whatever/whatever /whatever -o sec=krb5i This should mount the share using Kerberos & Packet-signing by using the cached credentials of the user executing the command. With judicious use of strace, it seems that cifs.upcall makes the assumption that the Kerberos credentials will be present at /tmp/krb5cc_UID, however, this is not always the case; the credentials may have a random element in the file name. Here's an example output from the system: /tmp/krb5cc_0 /tmp/krb...
