setting up swat
I've looked in /usr/local/samba/swat for help
and even the samba source docs and can't
find anything on setting up swat.
I've also looked at samba.org/samba/docs,
but can find a swat setup doc.
Can some please point me in the right direction?
thanks,
daniel

...why??).
BTW, if this can you track down the problem quicker:
netbios names in wins.dat are kept recoded twice, so the problem originally
goes in registration. Actually, I figured out where exactly with "my"
debug version, so if you are intresed, I can dig my debug logs.

Samba 3.0 config option "domain controller = xxx"
A new option has appeared in the default smb.conf from samba 3.0.0 beta3.
Here it is:
# Use only if you have an NT server on your network that has been
# configured at install time to be a primary domain controller.
domain controller = xxx
My question is, what does this do exactly? The old man pages for samba 2.x
obviously don't include any reference to this new feature. And on

Where is the default 'smb.conf' located?
I compiled and installed the latest samba 3.0.0rc1. I see that the binary
executable was placed in the default location of /usr/local/samba/sbin/smbd.
However, I cannot located the default smb.conf file. I was expecting that
the 'make install' script would have copied this file somewhere onto my
system.
Where is the default 'smb.conf' file located?
