user/password Authentication via Joomla database
Hello, did anyone ever set up Authentication via lookups to a Joomla (mysql) database? What I'd like to do is lookup Joomla users (who are in specific/multiple groups) in the Joomla database and then fallback to /etc/passwd authentication to let system users authenticate. I'm running : # 2.2.35 (b1cb664): /usr/local/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # OS: FreeBSD...

Open Source Content Management System - Joomla
There was some discussion in the past about which one is the best Content Management System that can be used in conjunction with Asterisk. Mambo was supposed to be the best out there under GPL. The guys who developed Mambo have a new product now - Joomla. I am using this and it appears to be better than Mambo in many respects. Read the gist about Joomla below. ------------- If you've read anything at all about Content Management Systems (CMS), you'll probably know at least three things: CMS are the most exciting way to do business, CMS can...

How do I install Joomla! 1.5?
Installing of Joomla! 1.5 is pretty easy. We assume you have set-up your Web site, and it is accessible with your browser. Download Joomla! 1.5, unzip it and upload/copy the files into the directory you Web site points to, fire up your browser and enter your Web site address and the installation will start. For full...

Rsync doesn't copy over only the changed files
Hello, I am trying to sync up 2 directories over a network. I am running Gentoo and on the new server I have a fresh install of Apache using webapp-config to install the latest Joomla 1.5. On the other server I have my backup copy of Joomla 1.5 also running the latest version. I want to only copy over the files that are not in my new "fresh" version AND only the files that have different content in them so I won't be overwriting the entire directory; only the cha...

Goodbye Windows?
...provides most of the softwares we need for business, equivalent of Outlook, MS Office, IE, ... but : Is it realistic to think that we can delete Win XP, and use Wine with Linux, for a professional use, with : - All Adobe, with the ICC profiles (I use Monaco EZcolor for the calibration). - CMS like Joomla and a lot of plugs-in, and a few tools for webranking. I hope the answer is yes (with comments please). Is there a difference for the Wine behavior, with Ubuntu, Suse, or another? (I prefer Suse). Si la r?ponse est en Fran?ais, c'est encore mieux. Django.

Apache umask
...ect using ACL on particular directories/files? > > Gianluca Might could, but that seems like overkill for my purposes, as I don't use ACLs anywhere else. I cannot be the only developer that needs apache created files to be managed by a group. The truth is some sites, like wordpress or joomla, can be better managed when a group member can read or write apache created files. Like via SFTP or local FTP. Today, I have to make all files world writable to update joomla, and that could be better managed by allowing the owning group to access those files. In the case where the client manage...

CentOS 5.10: Upgrading from IUS's php52 to CentOS's php53 questions
I would like to update one of the websites on my server from Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 3.2, but it wants PHP 5.3. I am currently using IUS's php52 5.2.17, which is fine for the Joomla 1.5 and the various WordPress sites (up to 3.9) currently served on this server. I plan to test the update procedure on my home (test) system (a pretty much identically setup system) b...

MultiLingual option for site with Rails
Hi, I was wondering if there is a plugin or a code snippet, that would translate the static content [possibly dynamic too] on the website for the visitors coming from different geographical regions of the world. In one of my earlier projects, I used the plugin on Joomla [CMS] that auto translates the content. Here is the site, the plugin is at the left bottom. http://www.elixirco.com/ Any help is appreciated. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Ta...

looking for a decent free / Open Source flash media server
...Open Source flash media server software which I can run on a Linux server. Adobe's Flash Media Server (http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/) is very expensive and not within any reasonable cost range (R40K+). The Fladh Media Server uses the RMTP This is needed to run the following Joomla extension: http://www.joomplace.com/live-conference/live-conference.html which basically allows us to setup a Flash tutorial conference setup, similar to podcasts. We currently use CentOS Linux + cPanel, as well as CentOS + VirtualMin but I'm open to suggestion for other control panels as well...

Hardened PHP? Suhosin patch?
Hi, I'm running a few PHP-based apps on our server (PMB, SPIP, Joomla, PHPMyAdmin), and I'm not always comforted about security. I don't know the details, but many a security expert frowns when it comes to PHP. Now I just stumbled over this: http://www.hardened-php.net/suhosin.127.html Has anyone already tried this out? An opinion about it? Is it worth i...

website project assessement - how hard/easy would this be?
hello, I have a website project pending and i hesitate between using ruby on rails or a CMS like joomla for it. Therefore, i welcome your insights to assess of how much work would be needed using RoR and if it is a better choice than using the CMS. ...Instead of talking a lot, let me present what the website should exactly do. ;) Basically, the website is intended to be a sort of vault for free text...
