Problems with File_column
Hi, Rails - newbie here.. I''m setting up an app and am trying to use file_column to upload a picture with an item and I''m running into several problems. (Background: I''m running Locomotive Rails under OS X 10.4.4, and using Safari) I followed the directions to add the necessary items, then found out that I had to add the item to make the form tag be a multipart

Weird problem w/ user authentication
Dear all, Have managed to put myself in a small bind with regards to user authentication in Samba. Somehow (don't ask...I have NO idea), I've managed to create the situation where my Samba server denies authentication of one single user. Every other user has continued access as before, no difficulties whatsoever. When trying to login with this one user id, Windows 98 SE replies that

file_column and tmp files
Hi again... One more item.. the file_column plugin uses a tmp directory inside the /public directory to store a temporary uploaded item. But it looks like this folder is just going to grow and grow. Is there some way to clear this out or not cause this to happen? Thanks once again! -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

problems with samba 1.9.18p8
I recently installed samba 1.9.18p8. Since then, we get the following error: "No domain server was available to validate your password. You may not be able to gain access to some network resources." after the server has been running for >48 hours. If I stop and restart the server, everything is ok again. Our samba server is a Sun Ultra 2170 running Solaris 2.5.1. Any help will

Slowdown when copying large files (PR#8617)
> Further to my previous post, I have made an interesting discovery. This > particular slowdown only occurs from clients that are running > Windows 98. The Windows98 explorer (and possibly other programs) incorrectly set the "sync" bit in write requests to network shares. This causes an enormous slowdown as Samba (quite correctly) does a fsync() on the file after each write.

Large numbers of files in a directory - take #2 :-)
Ok, second attempt now I'm sure the code is working :-). JohnT - if you want to turn this into a HOWTO or part of the book, be my guest. Remember it'll be in 3.0.12, not 3.0.11 or below. ----------------------------------------------------------- I've been working (inspired by James Peach of SGI) on the problem of using Samba3 with applications that n...

W2k ADC + Samba Member + winbind + win 98 clients problem
Hi there. I have a windows 2000 Server in ADC mode. I have a samba 3 box as a domain member to the ADC where security=ADS I auth fine to this box from Windows 2000/XP clients. I see shares on the domain member with no issues. winbind works fine, in that it auth's ok etc etc Windows 98 clients are configured to log into the Bionomics domain, and do so with the W2k Server with no problems.

Error with Rails 1.1RC1 and Properties page
I just tried setting up a simple Rails app, after updating to the 1.1RC1 version of Rails. Generating a simple scaffold worked fine, and WEBrick started fine with script/server. I then went to the http://localhost:3000 page and clicked on the "About your application''s environment" link, and an error was displayed: NoMethodError in Rails/info#properties private method

Looking for DB/Model Design Suggestions
Hi, I''m working on an app - my first Rails - and am looking for some suggestions on the best way (or good way) to set up my models / DB. In general there are teams and matches; a team will participate in multiple matches, and in each match there will be 6 teams - 3 vs. 3. I''m going to want to be able, for a particular team, pull up all matches for that team, to display a

Clearing a file_column-type field
So I am now able to set/upload an image to my app using file_column, with a little bit of a change to the code. I can change the image using an Edit page, but I''m trying to figure out what to do if the user wants to remove the image. I tried adding a Remove Image link in my list, but I''m not sure what to do in the remove_image method in my controller. I tried setting the

Page Rendering problem with the Forum
I just noticed a problem rendering a forum thread on Safari (Not sure if there''s someplace else to post this). In the thread: http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/52506 there are about 6 messages in the middle of the thread that are not rendered using Safari. Using Firefox, the complete thread displays. And also, for longer posts, the menu items on the left do not display next to the

RoR and Apache2 and app in local directory
Hi all. I''m at my wits end.. I''m trying to set up a Rails app (on a Ubuntu system), within the public_html directory in my home directory (as opposed to the /var/www/ directory). ie. in /users/john/public_html/myapp I have a simple app setup, and using the Webrick server it works fine. But trying to get Apache to work is becoming a pain in the *&^*. I followed the
