typsize and fscale arguments to nlm
Dear R list members, I have a question about the proper use of the typsize and fscale arguments to nlm. I use nlm in my sem package to fit general structural-equation models, which entails maximizing a multinormal likelihood with respect to parameters that represent regression coefficients and covariances of variables. The magnitudes of these parameters can be very different. The

Hello. I have been on leave for several weeks and have managed to lose all emails received since December due to a server crash. I asked about log synch error back in March and have (repeatedly) deleted all .imap files but the errors continue. # 2.1.1: /usr/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # OS: Linux 2.6.33.5-desktop-2mnb i686 Mandriva Linux 2010.2 mail_access_groups = mail mail_location =

chan_bluetooth problems
Has anyone had experience with Theo's chan_bluetooth with asterisk-1.2.0 on FC3. When I try to make a call to my home through the channel my phone shows calling but my home phone never rings. I get this on screen: == Spawn extension (outgoing, 3234600, 2) exited non-zero on 'SIP/2299-9131' -- Executing Dial("SIP/2299-7743", "BLT/John/3541107") in new stack

installation problem with lighttpd
Ever since I moved my dev environment from my Powerbook to my new MacBook Pro, I cannot run the lighttpd webserver - it starts and immediately crashes out with an error (see below) saying a file does not exist. I''ve checked the file does exist. WEBrick works without any problem. Has anyone else experienced this problem? John:~/web john$ ruby script/server => Booting lighttpd

Help with indexing
Dear R Helpers, I am missing something very elementary here, and I don't seem to get it from the help pages of the ave, seq and seq_along functions, so I wonder if you could offer a quick help. To use an example from an earlier post on this list, I have a dataframe of this kind: dat = data.frame(name = rep(c("Mary", "Sam", "John"), c(3,2,4))) dat$freq =

finding roots (Max Like Est)
I have this maximum liklihood estimate problem i need to find the roots of the following: [sum (from i=1 to n) ] ((2(x[i]-parameter)/(1+(x[i]-parameter)^2))=0 given to me is the x vector which has length 100 how would I find the roots using R? I have 2 thoughts...... 1 is using a grid search ... eg. brute force, just choosing a whole bunch of different values for my parameter .... such as

NTLM oddities
...es so I can finally offer SPA for pop3/imap. Things are working fine with the MasterUser (horray!), however one of my guys started using SPA with Outlook Express and started getting another users mailbox. Turns out to be related to NTLM. His Outlook express is configured for the username of 'johnsmith'. However, you'll see the NTLM took the username from his XP machine login, it appears, which is just "John". However, what is really weird, is the "failed" on the "client out" line, but then the proxy went ahead and proxied to the storage server. Here...

Problem with client login in 1.2.17
Hi, I have been using CentOS 5.5 with Dovecot 1.0.7. My client apps login with TLS/SSL using an postgres database for username and password authentication. I developed a plugin that added an additional IMAP command. I want to eventually migrate to release 2.0 but have decided to make this a two step process. I have started with 1.2.17 as I hope this would be a smaller step along the way. I have

QueryParser: aliases and OP_AND
Hello, I'm wondering about how the QueryParser parses a query containing an "alias" when the default operator is OP_AND (by "alias", I mean a search field mapped to multiple term prefixes). With the following php code : <?php $parser=new XapianQueryParser(); $parser->set_default_op(XapianQuery::OP_AND); $parser->add_prefix('alias', 'AUT1:');

Sync errors trying to sync old mbox inboxes to dovecot
We are currently running dovecot 2.2.rc3. I am trying to 'dsync mirror' old Qpopper/mbox inboxes to our new Dovecot/mdbox servers. For most of the several thousand accounts, it works without issue. But there are a handful of accounts that are generating the following errors. dsync(joe): Error: Sync failed for mbox file /var/opt/migrate/users/joe/inbox: seq=981 uid=981 uid_broken=0

mount.ocfs2: Transport endpoint is not connected while mounting
Hi All, I have a cluster of four nodes and one will not join the cluster. I have two IPs on each node, one external and one internal. I have tried changing around the IPs in the /etc/ocfs2/cluster.conf and that helped - at least I recovered three of the machines. Any suggestions on where else to look?
