rsync backup
Hi, I want to mirror a samba server (smb0) to a identical server (smb1) in my internal network. So far I can managed to do this from client (smb1), rsync -e ssh -auzpg 10.10.10.24:/home/MYDOMAIN /home rsync -e ssh -auzpg 10.10.10.24:/srv/ /srv I would like to automate this task without entering root password. But I'm little confused. Should I setup rsyncd.conf from the server and

Change Request: New Environmental Variable for Username
...I propose that using an additional environmental variable, e.g. SMBUSER, would make life easier for such users. This variable could be set once in a user's startup files, and they would no longer need to enter the '-U' option each time they used a Samba client. For example, user 'johnd' on machineA has an acount on machineB called 'jdoe'. Our user need only set SMBUSER equal to 'jdoe' in his startup on machineA, and he no longer needs to type it everytime. If the SMBUSER variable is not set, Samba would default to the current behavior. When it is set, that na...

domU Networking Issues
Hi, I have Xen 3.0.3 installed on CentOS 5.5 with 2 paravirtualized domU''s configured to use the default bridge networking and am having networking issues. If I boot the computer fresh I am able to ping dom0 and can SSH into it and start the domU''s. The following ping snippet demonstrates the problem. The first group of "Destination Host Unreachable" is while the

2.2.4 - Some questions about and needing help with quota-status
...info that may not be immediately obvious. This is dovecot 2.2.4 with changesets 9091d0f2d971 and 2be295a0b64f. All involved databases are sqlite ones. passdb and userdb are devised so as to change usernames. For example, I could have a user with addresses "doe at oldexample.com", "johnd at oldexample.com" and "john.doe at example.com" needing to be able to log in as "jdoe" or "u123456"; all db lookups for that user then end with name "john.doe". This is a single mail user setup (user/group "dovemailer", uid/gid 999). Service...

pdbedit how to change a domain
Samba version 3.0.9 on Red Hat 9.0 workstations: NT 4.0 SP6 When I took over this project, there were two domains connected by a VPN. For reasons that I'm unable to understand, some new users wound up with the intended domain of SATA and some wound up in SATB (even though they joined the SATA domain. Recently, all kinds of problems have materialized and the only thing I can find wrong is

Ogg Vorbis Framing
Hi all, Here are some thoughts on Vorbis framing, which may make it easier to stream Vorbis in real time. The suggested changes also move more audio data closer to the beginning of each page. A note in the Vorbis framing spec suggests a simple 'bandwidth limited' mode whereby important information is placed at the front of each page and the end of each page is discarded. When operating
