rsync 2.6.6 nasty bug?
...fine (except the excluded files aren''t deleted). It doesn''t always die in the same place (same filename), but it always dies, and does so fairly quickly. I can supply portions of straces, etc... if anybody is interested. This seems like a pretty serious bug. -- Jon Nelson <jnelson-rsync@jamponi.net>

/etc/passwd
I would like to write up brief tutorial/documentation on how to manage /etc/passwd using puppet. While this may seem pretty straight forward to some...the documentation is not. We have been able to create a manifest that defines all of our users "virtually" and are able to "realize" users and add them to the system(s) running puppetd. Is there a way to simply realize all users

changing properties for a collection ?
Is it possible to change a property for a collection. what i want is to be able to realize a subset of users with different properties. something like this: User <|group == dev|> { ensure => absent } trying to remove a set of users from a single node, but i don''t want to change the users virtual def. Ive done some searching on the wiki and i can''t tell if this

Replicating printers, drivers, and settings between machines
For backup and redundancy purposes, I've been needing to replicate CUPS printer queues between two Samba servers, and came up with the following shell script. We use a fairly sizable number of CUPS printer queues printing in RAW mode, and install the printer drivers from the Windows clients, so all clients actually download the printer driver from Samba at first use. You do not have sufficient access to your computer to connect to the selected printer
I received this message when trying to connect and install a new printer driver for a new printer on a Samba server under Windows XP: "You do not have sufficient access to your computer to connect to the selected printer" The following TechNet article answers this problem - it's a policy problem on the local machine: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=259937

Printer access denied problems
I've had a nagging problem for a long time where I cannot connect to my printers from Windows 2000 or XP. I'm using CUPS printing and Samba 3.0.14. I've seen people report a similar problem where they can print, but can't open the queue or manage the printers. The message you get is "Operation could not be complete. Access is denied." I found the problem to be

I think i am missing something fundamentally simple here. i have this

There away to pass args to a package provider ?
I maintain a few production gentoo machines. I do this by creating builtds for packages and centralizing these builds via nfs. when puppet tries to fulfill a requirement for say sudo it calls emerge, but i want to call emerge with -k which forces emerge to look for a binary before trying to built the package itself. is there any way to do this in the current release ?
