rpc and wine
can someone tell me how to get RPC and WINE to work in conjunction with one another? I have serious need to run an RPC application under linux's WINE port. If I cannot find a solution, I'm regretably going to have to change the OS to windows which I'd prefer not to do. Thanks, Chris

aggregate vs tapply; is there a middle ground?
....frame. Is there a way to directly do this calculation INCLUDING results for empty subsets, and still obtain a 2D array, matrix, or data.frame? OR alternatively is there a simple way to mush the 4D result from the tapply into a 2D matrix/data.frame? thanks very much in advance for any help! -jlb -- ************************************ Joseph P. Questions on setting up icecast
Sorry, gang. The FAQ didn't seem to answer me, nor did Googling... I merely want a simple solution to do the following: I am setting up a streaming server for in-house use. I want it to broadcast the RAW MP3 DATA from my actual MP3 files, as I listen to them in xmms. In other words, I DO NOT want: XMMS ---> decode to wave ---> re-encode to MP3 ---> icecast ---> listeners I

Ordering boxplot factors
...find a simple way to do: boxplot(obs~factor) so that the factors are ordered left-to-right along the x-axis by median, not alphabetically by factor name. Complicated ways abound, but I'm hoping for a magical one-liner that'll do the trick. Any suggestions would be treasured. Thanks, -jlb -- ************************************ Joseph P. changing degrees of freedom in summary.lm()
...with 219*17-17=3706 degrees of freedom, when in fact I have but 219-17=202 df. I'm probably being dense on this one, but is there a way I can set df to the proper number so that summary.lm does the correct significance test? Or should I be doing an entirely different anlaysis? Hackers on my Web server
I have discovered that a gamer has hacked into my web server through a backdoor left open by my predecessor. I have closed the door, but when I try to delete the folders left behind I receive "Access Denied", or when I try to take ownership I receive "Unable to Find File...". I have removed most of the files to obtain enough space to continue operations but would like to remove

probability histogram question
...d equal 1.0 ... However: > sum(h$density) #returns the value : #[1] 10 I would really like to plot values in the probablility histogram that sum to 1, not 10. Is there a switch in the hist(x) command that I'm missing? Or, is there another function that can do this? Thanks in advance, jlb -- ************************************ Joseph P. Multiple LUN support
Hi all... I have a scsi Tape library. Centos only sees the tape drive portion of the library. I need to enable Multiple LUN support to get the library and tape drive recognized. I am looking for some help enabling multiple lun support in Centos 4. I had a procedure on how to do this in the 2.4 kernel but it doesn't seem to work in the 2.6. Any help would be appreciated. I''ve searched through trac, and nobody seems to have reported this bug before. Is this a known issue?
