Here is a tentative sketch I am working on for the a new website theme: https://centos.gitlab.io/artwork/centos-web/jekyll-theme-centos-base/documentation/#the-page-basehome-layout In this layout: Are "News and Events" and "Blog Posts" redundant sections?? Does it make sense to present only extracts from blog posts if we cover "news and events" as blog posts? What is your opinion abou...

Docs strategy and tactics
...comers. So contributors don?t have to learn to use mailing list and complicated doc tools just in order to contribute a single how-to article. The Ghost team has their whole documentation site hosted on GitHub:Pages (http://docs.ghost.org <http://docs.ghost.org/>). GitHub:Pages is backed by Jekyll, which is triggered when new commit is merged, and afterwards generates the site using the MarkDown file. I think we can use this idea, too. This can help reduce the complexity of the project. The head job of arranging and generating a website from raw doc contents can be done by using such static...

...workflow. Another constraint is that the site generator should require minimal human effort, as we plan to build the site continuously through CI, so the new content should automatically be indexed, added to navigation panels, content directory etc. Coming to existing site generators, we looked at Jekyll, Hugo and Mkdocs. Hugo - very flexible, great tool but complicated. User needs hugo installed to contribute. Docker uses this, switching from mkdocs. Mkdocs - Not very flexible, but very friendly. User needs to create doc in mardown, add the link in another file and done! Jekyll -- very blog sp...

[centos-website-artwork] Request for feedback about base/default layout
Hi, There is some documentation in progress about "base/default" layout, the default layout that jekyll-theme-centos will be using to render content. You can check it on the following URL: https://centos.gitlab.io/artwork/centos-web/jekyll-theme-centos-base/documentation/ This page is also an example of how the content presentation looks like when you use the "base/default" layout in you...

Pygments
The Pygments highlighter supports many more languages than CodeRay. Pygments is written in Python, but I''ve seen non-Python projects use it (Jekyll, Pygments). There''s also this: https://github.com/nex3/rb-pygments Any idea how much work it would be to add Pygments support to Webgen?

Rails 3 application capable of generating an offline version of itself for download as zip archive
I''m kinda newbie in RoR yet and I''m having a hard time trying to figure out how should I implement this. I''m writing an application to store and display information about insects and their distribution. Currently I have almost all functionality implemented, except for a **very** important one: The application must be capable of "crawling" itself and generate a

Regarding Static website generator [GSOC Docs-toolchain]
Hi, Lei and I have been working on the project, based on community input. We have implemented two way sync between github and pagure as suggest by many. Now we want build the site and display it to user. There are number of options mkdocs, hugo(docker uses it now) etc. There are pros and cons to each site generator. To use hugo, we need the user to have hugo installed too, and than he needs to

Links in DF's Markdown?
I noticed the markdown used for http://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/had this: Discussion List <a id="discussion-list" /> --------------- It seems to be a way to associate id's or classes with markdown elements. Is this a standard "best practices"? I've gone a different direction in my use of MD. I have a trivial jQuery stunt that looks for

What does Markdown do with HTML comments? Recommendation on Markdown file extension?
Hi there! (1.) It may sound awkward, but I would like to use comments in Markdown texts. According to the rule that proper HTML works as HTML, I should be able to use <!-- blablabla --> But the converters I use do strange things with comments. Is there an official rule about that? (2.) I wonder if there is a recommended standard file extension for Markdown source files. For my
