importing data
...at R Data Import/Export manual.
It is a bit peculiar because my data base is already an R object called "japan".
I guess it is not yet a data set, and I don't know how to manipulate variables from it.
When I type "japan", here is an extract of what I get.

LiteSpeed
Yo Zed,
Just curious -- what do you think of the LiteSpeed
server? Is it better than Lighty? Does it (gasp!) also
serve Rails apps like Mongrel? I think I read that
LiteSpeed doesn''t have proxying support.
Thanks,
Joe

SAS CMO and SVP Jim Davis on Open Source, BI , competition, leadership succession & others
...? What could be
further plans to enhance this position with the global community of

* Jim -* SAS does support open source and open standards too. Open standards
typically guide open source implementations (e.g., the OASIS work is guiding
some of the work in Eclipse Cosmos, some of the JCP standards guide the
Tomcat implementation, etc.).
Some examples of SAS’s contributions to open source and open standards
include:

NLME 3 (R version) again!
Hi,
Well after trying to fix the assign commands in version 3.1.7 of your nlme package
I still cannot get the plot functions to work. Basically I have no other packages installed (apart from those provided with R) so nlme is the first.
my R version info is;
platform sparc-sun-solaris2.7
arch sparc
os solaris2.7
system sparc, solaris2.7

I forgot. Why do we hate* Java?
Hi,
I''ve started reading some Java books. Gasp! What makes website
development with Java so bad? I haven''t looked at Struts but I''m
reading about Hibernate. Compared to ActiveRecord, Hibernate seems
like some extra typing to explicitly define the model fields, getters
and setters. I know that these are things that you can do in
ActiveRecord when things get complicated

It's a Unix file system issue, not a samba issue.

t.test in a loop
Hi All,
I've been having a little trouble with creating a loop that will run a a
series of t.tests for inspection,
Below is the code i've tried, and some checks i've looked at.
I've used the get(paste()) idea as i was told previously that the use of the
eval should try and be avoided.
I've run a single syntax to check that my systax is correct and works
without any problems
