forcing XP clients to use CIFS
Hi Guys!
Anyone know how can I do this trick?
I guess there is a registry value for it. As I noticed winxp try to use
smbfs first not cifs. In linux it's easier because you can choose when
you mount your shares.

Samba + Cups 2200 Laserjet printer
Hi all,
Hoping some one can help me out here.
I have a 2200dn laser printer working on a centos 5 server (using webmin for
configuration).
I have added it via webmin as a samba printer share with permissions to my
account.
Security is set to "user level" not "share level" (the default).
I can access my samba shares fine, download and upload to them.
I can also see the

In place editor help
Hello guys, I have been working a bit with RoR and I like it a lot!
I have been playing with AJAX for a while (btw how do you pronounce
AJAX? ah-jax? a-jax) and I stumbled with "in place editor" stuff.
I got a "remote" form for a Person model working so whenever the user
clicks the name of a person, it gets replaced with the "in place
editor"! that''s cool...

numerical integration
Greetings,
Sorry, the last message was sent by mistake! Here it is again:
I encounter a strange problem computing some numerical integrals on [0,oo).
Define
$$
M_j(x)=exp(-jax)
$$
where $a=0.08$. We want to compute the $L^2([0,\infty))$-inner products
$$
A_{ij}:=(M_i,M_j)=\int_0^\infty M_i(x)M_j(x)dx
$$
Analytically we have
$$
A_{ij}=1/(a(i+j)).
$$
In the code below we compute the matrix $A_{i,j}$, $1\leq i,j\leq 5$, numerically
and check against the known analytic value...

samba print server - unable to change "advanced" settings from a client machine 3.5.6
Hello,
I'm having trouble replacing our old print server (debian sarge) with a new
one.
When I enable print$ and force user root and give access to nobody, the
print$ share is working properly. I can create delete, add files etc from a
windows xp machine. What I need now is being able to "go to printers and
faxes, right click on the printer, go to advanced, and click new driver"

bwplot puts the bars in the wrong place
Dear R-Help,
With the attached data set, I am still getting incorrect bwplots

> bwplot(gdf$tt~gdf$OnHour |gdf$Runway, data=gdf, horizontal=FALSE) #
Puts the boxes on the wrong x-axis values
# look especially at 0 and 3. How do I fix this?
What is happening?

Using MathJax in R's help system
Hi,
I am doing a small experiment to test if I can use
MathJax ( official site: http://www.mathjax.org )
in R's html help pages (i.e. options(help_type='html'))
and it seems working with some minor modifications.
The screenshot (rendered by Firefox 4.0 beta and with STIX fonts) of

We recently upgraded to ruby 1.9.1 (in order to get new functions in the
Math module). We''ve reinstalled Mongrel with it, and even gone so far to
make some modifications to the compile (based on a post I found on one of
the forums).
Mongrel now fails when we try to launch it:

Importing module into R library
Hello,
I am basically familiar with R and am trying to import a module that someone
else has written. I know that it must go into the R library but even after
I place the file there R doesn't recognize it. The module is maanova,
available from the Churchill lab group for analysis of microarray data, if
anyone is familiar with it. Any ideas/help?
Thanks,
Heather
