Softswitch
Pardon my ignorance, but I was hoping someone could clear up something for me. - For a few POTS lines, digium has a single port card for that, or a T1 card to a channel bank. - For 10 or more lines, digium has a T1 or E1 card for that too based on PRI channels - For 100's to 1000's of lines, I suspect a soft-switch is in order??? A traditional phone company will sell: - POTS lines for

Re: Asterisk-Users digest, Vol 1 #1835 - 12 msgs
Thanks Brian, and thanks again for the included definitions <grin> - that helped too. Your comments are really helping clear many questions. I suppose our intensions are to become an IXC. So if my local carrier is sporting old technology, they'll provide TDM services. So if I understood you correctly, the "in-band signaling" is typically SS7, and the alternative is typically

Hi, With some help from Quinn_Storm, iXce, maniac103, mikedee and KristianLy :), I've managed to modify switcher.c and make a new plugin: thumbnail. The plugin shows thumbnails of windows when cursor is moved over a task button in taskbar. Screenshot: http://pix.nofrag.com/b0/7a/051d45e25bfffed09eeb9b00e383.jpeg Download: http://forum...

clients logout .............
You should be able to click Tools/Disconnect Network Drive from a Windows Explorer window, then select the connection to the Samba server and click ok. Note, this can be done even if the connection was not mapped to a drive letter, such as by typing \\server\share in the run box. You can then map a drive to the server with a different user account. OpenSSH doesn't compile under Solaris 2.3 Sparc
Hi, We are trying to get OpenSSH-1.2.2 stable release to compile under Solaris 2.3 Sparc. It worked perfect for Solaris 2.5, Solaris 2.5.1, Solaris 7 (All on Sparc) and Linux 2.2.13 Intel x86 OpenSSL installs fine without problem, zlib is installed fine without problems and egd.pl installs fine without problems. These are all the current releases, I can get the version numbers if you need

Feature request: Multi-head awareness in compiz and plugins
There have been offered several patches in order to forward Xinerama support to Xgl and patches for compiz to make use of it (like iXce's ones, which were ignored). So far the patched up compiz is working pretty good and makes it effectively usable in such setups (aside of that those patches will always drift away from official CVS and need to be touched for each commit). However it seems that there is the argument that the &...

What are the various models of DID providers
Hi, Inspired by a recent rant about one particular provider, I am getting very curious about something I've never mastered. I'd like someone to explain this here or at least post a link or two that can educate me and probably countless others who have no knowledge in this area. I'm sure there are several of you reading this that know all about the subject. What are the various

"Fixing the Caller-ID Problem", by John Todd for O'ReillyNet
This seems like a piece members of this list would find interesting... === There is growing concern over the interaction of VoIP systems with the legacy PSTN, and the transmission of caller identity data--most notably, Caller ID on the PSTN. It is not always possible, or obvious how, to handle Caller ID data when moving to or from VoIP and the PSTN networks. There are even business models

YET Another echo issue PRI CARD Any help accepted :-)
Good Day all, I have a Fractional PRI connected to my Asterisk Box via a T100P card. When I initiate a call out to phone number 123-8888 the call sounds great no echo what so ever. If the person at 123-8888 hangs up and calls me right back (same handset on both sides) same trunk line The call always has echo on it. The Asterisk sip extension hears them selves echoing. Asterisk featdmf signalling.
I've recently started PIC'ing some calls into a asterisk box across a feature group D trunk from Verizon. Everything seems to work ok, except for some reason Asterisk doesn't grab the full caller ID from Verizon. I can see that they do send it, but Asterisk drops the first 2 numbers. Looking at the debug log I see. I see that Verizon is sending the digits and the asterisk debug seems

Samba + ACL
I wish to realize a file-server with SAMBA integrated in my network domain (Windows NT4 PDC). To manage the user access for each share in the Samba file-server, I would use Active Control Lists. Anyone can tell me - what type and version of Linux is best for my purpose ? - what Samba version is best to use ? Thanks. Marco
