Damn itcl to hell.
Hi,
Sorry to bug people with this what must be a very trivial question. I've got
a Mandrake 8.0 installation and have been trying in vain to get CodeWeavers
Wine (preview #3) installed. I've downloaded and installed the 'blessed'
version of itcl from the CodeWeaver's website (itcl-8.3.2-7mdk.i586.rpm) and
am still getting the itcl not found error when I try to run winesetup.

codeweavers-wine:itcl problem
...;wish Main.itcl' in
/opt/wine/bin/winesetuptk appears to have failed.
Then it suggested I make use of the wine support.
Itcl-3.2-50 is installed. Pretty basic RH6.2 with qt-2.2.3,
KDE2.1beta2 and Helixgnome, 128 MB RAM.
I notice there is itcl-8.x.rpm available for Mandrake, but
all the RH itcls I have found have been in the 3.x series.
Is this the prob?
What to do?
PS: This message may have been posted twice; if so, my
apologies (cwnet.com's news transport failed during the
attempt to send the first, so I resent. <blush>)

wine on suse7.3
I noticed a distribution for 7.2 & 8.0 but not 7.3.
Download and installation of the 7.2 version appears to go fine - until i
give the command wine -v
I do understand there is not a config file with the distribution.
However when i start wine -v
and take the option to setup config it fails twith a message
can't find package Itcl and also says the config file does not exist.

could not exec wineserver
When I try to execute:
wine "sol.exe"
it gives this error:
-----
wine: could not exec wineserver
-----
My system is:
SuSE 7.0 (if I'tm not mistaken: glibc 2.1?)
codeweavers-wine-20010305-1.i386.rpm
itcl-3.1.0-79.i386.rpm
win98 on other partition
I already added /opt/wine/lib to /etc/ld.so.conf; this solved a previous
problem.
Can anyone help? Thanks!

Wine Setup
I am a complete newbie to Wine. I am aware of the wonderful things OTHER
people can get it to do as far as running MS apps, but I have never had
such sucess.
The last attempt to run "winesetup" as root was met with the following:
debian:/home/tilleyrw# whoami
root
debian:/home/tilleyrw# winesetup
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
