Compatibility with 1.2.16 (commercial)?
...add such a configuration parameter or is there any other way to get a connection? Another way of handling this would theoretically be to update the server, but as administration of the servers is not my domain here in the company, I would really prefer not to have to do that. so long, benny -- ISION Internet AG Benjamin Riefenstahl mailto:benjamin.riefenstahl at ision.net Ruhrstrasse 61 D-22761 Hamburg http://www.ision.net

empty password
Samba-4.0.10 in AD mode. I need to have an account with an empty password. After checking the smb.conf manpage (and also smbpasswd manpage), I added to the smb.conf file: null passwords = Yes The result is a warning from commands like smbstatus: WARNING: The "null passwords" option is deprecated I cannot find the new option to achieve this. How is it supposed to be configured

xen-3.0-x86_32 not supported by xen kernel
I build a DomU kernel on RHEL AS5.1. But when I boot this Guest DomU with the kernel, it gives me error message: Error: (2, ''Invalid kernel'', ''xc_dom_compat_check: guest type xen-3.0-x86_32 not supported by xen kernel, sorry\n'') Can someone give me any suggestion about this problem? Thank you! Joe _______________________________________________ Xen-users

Migration from Windows to Samba4
I want to replace a Windows 2003R2 DC by a Samba4 install. I installed Samba 4.0.10 and successfully joined the Windows domain. (after applying a small patch to join.py) The replication works fine, and the new DC now hosts all fileshares and successfully authenticates users and computers. Transfer of fsmo roles was also successful. The old Windows DC is still active. I want to decommission

Internal DNS listen address?
After investigating my DC demotion problem, it looks like the issues are in DNS. Apparently Windows DNS updates propagate correctly to Samba, but the other way it does not work. So the Samba DNS has the complete DC situation, but Windows only knows about itself (in the SRV records, the A record for the domain, etc). Of course I can fix it manually in Windows if needed. As I also have another

keepalive not working?
I am running sernet samba 4.0.10-7 on a network with XP and W7 PCs. As I saw that many smb connections remain open, especially from W7 clients, I added this to smb.conf: socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_KEEPALIVE However, it appears to be not working. Over 2 hours after clients have logged off, smbstatus still shows the connections with locked files and all. When I kill the associated

During my actions to transfer a domain controller role from a Windows 2003 server to Samba (now version 4.0.12) and generally cleaning up the domain I made the mistake to manually delete a record from a "deleted objects" zone. I now understand that I should have waited until it would have gone away by itself. Ever since, the following message is regularly logged:
