Jumbo frames problem with Realtek NICs?
...d warnings that increasing MTU with this adapter may cause problems. Searching around, it seems to be a common problem but there doesn't appear to be any clear cut fix, including some suggestions to use a third party driver. Does anybody know of a proven solution or is the Realtek chip itself irrevocably broken/bugged that anything above the default 1500 will simply not work?

...repair in an attempt to get excel to run. I've tried running all native dlls, all builtin, etc, and no matter what I do, it hangs shortly after putting up the window and must be killed with a -s 9. I've run it with -debugmsgs +modules and don't get any error messages, it just hangs irrevocably. Is this known behaviour that is, hopefully, easy to fix? I currently run Lotus Notes and a few other apps with wine, so I know it works in general. I can get simple apps to work with my experimental Excel setup, like calc.exe, notepad.exe, wordpad.exe, etc. Thanks so much for your time. Gre...

[1.3.20]-Capture The Mouse Works Great. Suggestions... Hi, I've been crying for a long time about mouse issues while running a full screen game in an emulated desktop window, but with newest Wine these issues are gone. Would it be possible to have some hot key that the user can press to uncapture the mouse? For example, VirtualBox toggles mouse capture by pressing the right [Ctrl] key on

"Q. Isn't VP3 a patented technology? Yes, some portions of the VP3 codec are covered by patents. However, the Xiph.org Foundation has negotiated an irrevocable free license to the VP3 codec for any purpose imaginable on behalf of the public. It is legal to use VP3 in any way you see fit (unless, of course, you're doing something illegal with it in your particular jurisdiction). You

RTP I-D copyrights (Fwd: Release-critical Bugreport for December 22, 2006)
Hi, I noticed a bug logged against libtheora in Debian: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=393391 relating to the copyright statement of the included Internet Draft for RTP, and it appears the same issue could arise with the vorbis and speex RTP drafts. Details about the issue in general are at: http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments That page contains a section titled

Possible critical Xen issue on Buster
Hey Xen devel team, I’ve never mailed a developer list before, but I’m worried I may have stumbled across a bad Xen/Debian packaging bug. My confidence is somewhere above “just mail -user” and below “open a bug in xen-system-amd64”. Apologies if this is the wrong usage of the list. I’ve updated to Buster, and my Xen kernel no longer boots. I believe it’s because Xen only offers versions 4.11 and

Independent implementations?
Hullo, When people ask me what Vorbis's license terms are, I usually tell them that the bitstream format is in the public domain, that the reference libraries are licensed under a BSD-like license, and that the example programs are licensed under the GNU GPL. (Note the distinction between filespec and implementation here.) Meanwhile, Theora.org's FAQ doesn't say anything about the

Wiki TOS - worrying for an open source project?
Hi there, I've made a couple of small contributions to the wiki but recently I read the Terms of service, they are pretty draconian: LICENSE AND SITE ACCESS voip-info.org grants you a limited license to access and make personal use of this site. This license does not include any resale or commercial use of this site or its contents. Without express written consent of voip-info.org you may

Do not forget to add the "Copying conditions" to the RFC. Check http://wiki.debian.org/NonFreeIETFDocuments That page contains a section titled "Template for RFC authors to release additional rights". To follow that guideline a section like the following should be added: x. Copying conditions The author(s) agree to grant third parties the irrevocable right to

RE: Problem when doing direct_remap_area_pages() in aprivileged user domain
..., we''ve had to point people at this work around before. Not nice. I''d really like to see a patch that creates a more fine grained set of privilege capabilities, and an appropriate config file option to set them. For completeness, there should be a dom0_op that enables a domain to irrevocably surrender a capability. There''s an argument that certain capabilities should be specific to a specified target domain or group of domains (we already have a domain group ID). This may be going to far in the first instance, but its worth bearing in mind while working up a patch for the fo...

Something odd is going on in this list
I read wine-users, as I read every list I can, through the Gmane interface, running Pan against news.gmane.org -- and recently hit a new gremlin. Supposing it something wrong with my connection or my Pan settings, I asked there. Windows doesn't prevent directory deletion
...he linux filesystem. And I would expect this behavior from a Windows Client too. In Windows however an Employees member is able to delete the directory "Employees" from the Share mounted in the explorer. So when the user clicks on delete, Windows asks if I'm sure to delete the files irrevocably. After that Windows deletes all files in that directory and then hides the Employees directory from the mounted Share. Only after I reload/reopen the explorer the Employee directory is visible again, but the directory is empty. So it seems that Windows thinks that it's allowed to delete this d...
