[dogfood] Jedit totally irresponsive upon launch
Windows (stable) version tested in Wine. Needs Java 1.5 minimum. Available at www.jedit.org, source code available. Installation without an hitch. After installation, it asks you wether you want to start it. If you tick on yes, it is immediately prompted. Afterwards, your screen becomes black with only the main block (middle) to be seen. No possibility to close it and the rest is black. You can

Machine becoming irresponsive
There is a CentOS 5.2 machine that is sometimes found to be offline. It runs a few websites but nothing very high traffic. I happened to notice a few days ago that before it went down, one of the sites written in PHP was throwing errors that it could not connect to the MySQL backend. Two hours later, the whole server was down and wasn't even responding to SSH. It's not my box, but I may

ConnectTimeout=2 not working for me
...ill not get stuck if something is wrong with the remote host. If the remote host is down (non-pingable) or sshd is down the timeout option works and the scp continues to the next host in 2 seconds, but if the host is up (pingable) and sshd is listening on port 22 and host is either in trouble e.g. irresponsive then ssh connection hangs and wont every timeout. In that case, I will have to logon to the server initiating the scp and kill that process so the script will continue to run. Is there any option that I can use to just disconnect the scp connection in a given time, regardless of the scp is actual...

How forcly disconnect unwanted user?
Hello Samba Team! I have a Samba fileserver installed on my network. Sometime I have a problem. There are some irresponsible users, who holds their network connections for no purpose. I want to disconnect forcedly such users . But I do not know how do it. Help me, please! Dementiy P. Saltaev, "Svyaztransneft", Volgograd, Russia, 01.27.2003; 13:41. -------------- next part

sftp-server and chown
Hi, I've already discussed this issue in SSHSCI's SSH 2.2 context on ssh at clinet.fi list. My standpoint is that it's wrong and meaningless to perform chown in sftp-server as the file is most likely copied between systems with distinct accounting system where user is not necessarily (and even unlikely) has same numeric user id. The original bug report was that user couldn't

Ragnarok Online - Can't update the client (details inside)
Hello. This is my first post here, as until now I wasn't missing any Windows program. As at the moment I can spare some free time I wanted to do a brief come back to Ragnarok Online. The problem that I found is that the installer crashes every single time I start the game (image link) (http://ompldr.org/vNXpheg), and then it becomes irresponsible (image link) (http://ompldr.org/vNXpiOA).

PAM Offline Authentication in Ubuntu 22.04...
...s I say, > it works for myself. Ok, i've upgraded to 4.16 using Michael pakages (thanks Michael!). It works exactly as before, i try to explain: 1) boot; the PC had wireless on and connect automatically 2) login with AD account, OK. 3) i shut off the wireless. 4) machine became totally irresponsive: - a terminal open in 2 minutes - i cannot re-enable wireless - i cannot logoff or reboot The only options available is to wait for a terminal tu open, su to root (not sudo!) and do a 'reboot'. Or connect the ethernet cable and wait an insane amount of time. What i'm doing wrong?...

How does Vonage support fax machines?
My boss is insisting we support fax, and I keep telling him that Fax over IP is very unreliable and not recommended and his immediate come-back is "Vonage does it." and it's very hard to figure out how. I don't think Vonage does T.38, the Linksys/Sipura units they're using doesn't support T.38 to my knowledge. That means they have to be using G.711Ulaw to send faxes.

Inexpensive Flac player for separates system?
I'm after the cheapest way to decode a flac stream with following criteria; - Transport from UPnP (DNLA) NAS using either WiFi or Cat5 networking - Toslink digital out for using existing HiFi DAC. - Low power consuption (eg just few Watts - it's just a decoder anyway). There seems a real lack of Flac players that are cheap and HiFi separates integratable like current-day CD players. All
