[dogfood] Jedit totally irresponsive upon launch
Windows (stable) version tested in Wine. Needs Java 1.5 minimum. Available at www.jedit.org, source code available.
Installation without an hitch. After installation, it asks you wether you want to start it. If you tick on yes, it is immediately prompted.
Afterwards, your screen becomes black with only the main block (middle) to be seen. No possibility to close it and the rest is black. You can

Machine becoming irresponsive
There is a CentOS 5.2 machine that is sometimes found to be offline.
It runs a few websites but nothing very high traffic. I happened to
notice a few days ago that before it went down, one of the sites
written in PHP was throwing errors that it could not connect to the
MySQL backend. Two hours later, the whole server was down and wasn't
even responding to SSH.
It's not my box, but I may

You mean just thrown away, or archived somewhere? Just thrown away would
seem rather irresponsible...

ConnectTimeout=2 not working for me
Hi all,
I have somewhat a strange problem that I could not figure out, maybe someone
here can lelp.
I have a script that uses scp to distribute files to many servers, I use '-o
BatchMode=yes -o ConnectTimeout=2 options so the scp will not get stuck if
something is wrong with the remote host.
If the remote host is down (non-pingable) or sshd is down the timeout option
works and the scp

We all would prefer that, but I think you know that in reality, very few
customers have enough leverage to achieve that.? I have a number of IBM
servers for which access to the remote console now requires old versions
of Java and old browsers.? That's IBM.? If

configured to do so) one-way chown to arbitrary uid even for non
priviledged users. However, whether the latter is good or bad is more
or less irrelevant as there is no guarantee that numeric IDs are the
same across two systems and chown is basically meaningless. In addition
I think it's also irresponsible to blindly chmod files as different
systems might have different access policies (e.g. different umasks).
Therefore following patch (relative to OpenSSH 2.5.1p1) is suggested.
Cheers. Andy.

Ragnarok Online - Can't update the client (details inside)
...til now I wasn't missing any Windows program. As at the moment I can spare some free time I wanted to do a brief come back to Ragnarok Online.
The problem that I found is that the installer crashes every single time I start the game (image link) (http://ompldr.org/vNXpheg), and then it becomes irresponsible (image link) (http://ompldr.org/vNXpiOA).
This is what I did:
1 - Download the Ragnarok Online (http://www.playragnarok.com/) client (iRO-13.2Renewal-FullInstall-20101007-1357.msi (ftp://ftp.gravityus.com/Ragnarok_client/full/iRO-13.2Renewal-FullInstall-20101007-1357.msi))

How does Vonage support fax machines?
My boss is insisting we support fax, and I keep telling him that Fax over
IP is very unreliable and not recommended and his immediate come-back is
"Vonage does it." and it's very hard to figure out how.
I don't think Vonage does T.38, the Linksys/Sipura units they're using
doesn't support T.38 to my knowledge.
That means they have to be using G.711Ulaw to send faxes.

Error in documentation: Samba 3 By Example: Chapter 5 - Making Users Happy in re: Outlook
...files. If
there is any lag at all, such as you might find across a network, it
assumes the files are unavailable and creates new, blank store files.
Old messages are effectively lost, and cannot be retrieved without the
use of third-party mailbox recovery tools. If you ask me, that's sloppy
and irresponsible programming on Microsoft's part -- but then again,
maybe it's intentional to force you to buy Outlook.

Inexpensive Flac player for separates system?
...cheap and HiFi separates
integratable like current-day CD players. All solutions I've seen are
either expensive boutique heavy-weights or portable devices.
Squeezebox doesn't count for me - requires PC to be on, thus breaking rule 3
above as a few-hundred Watt music player system (pretty irresponsible
solution if you ask me in these times).

RFC #2: Improving license & patent issues in the LLVM community
...here are additional goals. Our current structure is broken in various ways (which I don’t want to enumerate in public), including potential legal issues with patches that come in from people who do not have commit access. If we don’t address these issues, then (in my personal opinion) it would be irresponsible to allow pull requests (assuming LLVM moves to github, which is still up in the air of course).

Mirroring EPEL makes sense well before this point, as they don't keep old
versions of packages online either AFAIK.
