(/usr/lib64/cups/backend/smb) stopped with status 1
Hello,
There is a printer at work (a Xerox WorkCentre 5325).
I am able to print using the following command: smbclient //MyHiddenPC/MyHiddenShare -WMyHiddenDomain -c 'print my-hidden-file.pdf'.
However, it does not work when I try to print through CUPS using the following command: lp my-hidden-file.pdf.
In the CUPS error_log file, the only error I can read is: [Job 5] PID 27883

OT - Intel IPP 5.3
Hello,
For education purpose, I would like to add G729 support to an Asterisk
1.4.19.1 system.
I've read this :
http://www.readytechnology.co.uk/open/ipp-codecs-g729-g723.1/
but when downloading Intel IPP software, it appears that latest IPP version
is 5.3.
As installation instructions here (

relates to Intel IPP

Samba vs IPP printing
Not including cases of unsupported clients for IPP printing (such as
Windows NT) are there any reasons/caveats for installations running CUPS
to not move over to IPP printing?
Are there any features or benefits to Windows/Samba printing for Windows
clients that make it superior compared to IPP?

(/usr/lib64/cups/backend/smb) stopped with status 1
I tried at work to run "/usr/bin/smbspool" manually:
---
$ /usr/bin/smbspool Xerox-WorkCentre-5325 \'5\' \'yugiohjcj\' \'2.pdf\' \'1\'
DEBUG: Connected with username/password...

The behavior at work is different from the one at home because it is not the same computer used and the /etc/samba/smb.conf is available.
However, as you can see above, the

How to prevent logging of some entries in CDR
Hi
In order to add several phones to a single extension number, I have
replaced entries like:
exten => 100,1,Dial(SIP/sipphone100,20,Tr)
into:
exten => 100,1,Dial(Local/100 at phones,20,Tr)
[phones]
exten => XXX,1,Dial(SIP.sipphone${EXTEN})
etc
This works great. However in the CDR, than seeing one entry for each
call, I see several entries in the CDR
Worse, if I do something like:

I admire your persistence in trying to find and write documentation on the Windows port, but there's only so much documentation that can cover all the workarounds. At some point, you need a Windows

HELP: Dose G.729 with IPP only worked on IntelCPU?

Common Sense dude - The Intel IPPs work only for Intel CPUs.
Remove the codec_g729.so file from /usr/lib/asterisk/modules folder and
restart asterisk
Check if it is working by starting as under:
UnixPrompt# asterisk -cvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvf
Once this loads correctly use 'Stop now' and restart with command

HELP: Dose G.729 with IPP only worked on Intel CPU?
Hi, ALL:
I install IPP(l_ipp_ia32_itanium_p_4_1_2.tar) and download the speech codeing
(l_ipp-sample-speech-coding_p_4.1.008.tgz) then patch it (g729-041103.diff).
My CPU is Centaur VIA Nehemiah with 998.715 MHz processor not INTEL CPU.
I choose PIII as its CPU type when I modify Makefile under "G729-float".
# For PIII
OPTIMIZE= -O6 -mcpu=pentium3 -march=pentium3 -ffast-math

Truncated print jobs - MS-DOS clients
Hi Everyone,
Having problem wuth truncated print jobs, I'm looking for help:

remote port forwarding unstable
Hi,
I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, maybe someone noticed it also...
I always do a remote port forwarding with openssh on 1026 port let's
say ( ssh -R 1026:localhost:55555 ). Most times the port is opened on
remote machine. But sometimes i notice that ssh can't do remote port
forwarding to that port 1026. I looked on the remote machine (netstat
-an) and no one is using that

Printer in wine on OS X?
I have installed Wine via macports on my Leopard machine. I have a printer installed on the MAC but apparently this is not using CUPS?
Can someone help me install a printer via cups on the mac and also, how do I get a start menu or somewhere to run my applications without having to run them from a command line?
If this works, I will not be able to have my teachers run apps from a cli. There

Samba & CUPS: only banner-page gets printed
In my setup I'm running Samba 3.0.23d-19.2 and CUPS 1.2.7-12.1.
Printing from a windows-client works fine, until I instruct CUPS to add
a banner-page. The banner-page then is the only thing that gets printed.
Doing the same from Linux everything works fine. I get my job including
a banner-page.
The Windows-printjob is passed raw from Samba to CUPS...
Anyone has an idea?
Best,
Johannes

Samba AD firewalld services
Now with firewalld, opening up ports is now 'better' done by opening
services. So what do I need, for starters it seems:
dns, dhcp, dhcpv6, samba, kerberos
Here is the list of services:
RH-Satellite-6 amanda-client bacula bacula-client dhcp dhcpv6
dhcpv6-client dns
ftp high-availability http https imaps ipp ipp-client ipsec kerberos
kpasswd ldap
